I feel slightly bamboozled….. Job 1 21’ Premium, BC was delayed so gave us a a year free, was ready to purchase the 3 years for $600 when done, but they “extended” our free year to the end of this year Just so they could say, its now $800 a year… ??

EDIT - looks like 2021 will get the offer for the $600 for 3 years per comments in this thread. So if that works out is a good deal

Ford Co-pilot 360/Assist 2.0 is the package that includes BLIS, Adaptive Cruise Control (now called BlueCruise), collision warning, etc. That is what I have in my GT-PE. Ford Co-pilot 360/Active 2.0 is the hardware package that preps the car for BlueCruise Hands-Free (for which you have to buy a subscription), including the eye nanny camera, the 360 cameras, and a few extra sensors. Ford really messed up in making their package naming too confusing. ??
Thank you for the clarification. I drove an escape loaner with ADCC. I believe you can buy ADCC out right on an Escape. Is Ford renaming ADCC on an Escape and other models to BC and charging for subscription too? I am looking for another Ford with ADCC. I might have to look elsewhere. Let's see what I can get for my ER AWD premium. It might be a good time to be a trader.

As far as we know on the forum, Adaptive Cruise Control will not be subscrip-based. BlueCruise Hands-Free will be. Ford could change its mind at any time on either account. ?‍♂?

No.

Job 1 got the best deal.

free for over a year, then it’s $600 for 3
Years.

Everyone else is $800/yr renewal.

It could be flawless and make me coffee and I wouldn’t pay 200/yr. But I do that that is reasonable for someone that can appreciate it. 800/yr is rediculous although it’s likely that many will still want it.

Um, yeah, if/when your Job 1 car even gets BC.
If so, you can then re-up for 3 yrs/$600.
After that, it's $800/yr renewal just like everyone else.

I wouldn't be shocked if there was a class action against Ford. It was confusing and I definitely didn't understand I was paying for a three year subscription. In any case I won't renew my blue cruise. At best I will add a month if I am taking a really long road trip and wanted the assist.

Why do you say that? They’ve already said 1.2 is coming to all earlier models by the end of the year, and people who are knowledgeable on here have claimed that none of the processors in the vehicle have been upgraded - module changes have been mostly engineering revisions.
Because knowledgeable people here have also said that some key BC hardware did change with the 23 model that BC 1.2 runs on. I forget what module was the issue. There is a long thread on that.

Farley also claimed that BC 1.2 was now rolling out via OTA on the recent earnings call... this is clearly not happening at the minute. He is a knowledgeable person... yet what he said is clearly wrong. 1.2 has been in 23's for what... 6 months.

Knowledgeable people at Ford said that 22's would have BC subscription of $600 for 3 years... till knowledgeable people said it would be $800 a year.

Knowledgeable people are wrong a lot. :D

The main point is that the car is full of compute hardware that was midrange or older when the car was released which means that the upgrade cycles will be limited by hardware capacity sooner than if more powerful hardware was specd. Case in point, the BC module that is different between a 23 and earlier cars.

Hey at least they're not planning to try and charge for CarPlay, or seat heating, or for some software EV mapping experience that the automaker developed itself, instead of letting you use CarPlay. They didn't set the price via a Tweet or Twitter poll -- so I guess could be worse.... ?

But I agree, this is laughable pricing probably set by some Ford group that wants to bring in revenue to justify its feature.

it just seems to me like Ford should focus on making a better product instead of trying to figure out how much they can charge for features that don't have much value.

Then they could charge more to purchase the car, and perhaps even spend less in recall repairs.
This. So much this. Build a car that doesn’t suffer recalls (glass, HVJB). Build a car that does what it’s advertised to do, a majority of the time (full power, not a 5 second limit), Ford.

Guess what happens then? The car doesn’t cost Ford as much. People like the car, and don’t sell it on the Used market after 3 years, leading people interested in the car to have to buy it new due to low used inventory. This is how you make your money, not through overpriced BC subs. Or, do this, make all the owners angry with an insane subscription cost, and have die-Hards leave the brand en masse, selling their MMEs (meaning that new inventory drops in value), never to return to the brand again. Your choice. Seems this is a really unpopular move that you should think about backtracking.

My window sticker shows these three lines.

CNCTD BLT-IN (3-YR INC)
360-DEGREE CAMERA
BLUECRUISE

Based one these lines, I would assume that 360-CAMERA and BLUECRUISE are for life of the car. I could not remember how I came across BC for 3 years. Don't I have to sign a paperwork showing that BC will be only for 3 years since the window sticker does not show the time limit on BC?

What is CNCTD? No explanation on the window sticker. Very confusing indeed.

I’m not sure I understand what you are upset about. We Job 1 21s clearly got the best deal. We’ve now received BC for free, from whenever you got it OTA or installed by dealer, through the end of this year. That’s roughly 18mos free. And then we can renew for 3 years for $600 total. Nobody else is even getting close to this deal.

Allow me to preface: I would not use BC (old school, driving is fun) even if it worked, and it certainly does not. ( I did try it after the dealership took a month to install)
Pay $1/year for much outdated technology that does not work? Or $800/year? Please.

But this is only a drop in the bucket. What is next?:
What will the yearly subscription be
-to unlock your door
-have a map
-start your car
-select a drive mode (mine went dead today)
-use 1PD
-receive OTA updates (do not want to subscribe, what will they shut down)
-etc.
How much is that $60K vehicle now? Especially now w/ minimal resale value.
Two months ago you would have scoffed at anyone suggesting $800 for old tech. that does not work.
Ford has complete control over your MME. Brave new world.
Think it absurd? HVBJB, oil pump, never ending OTA dilemma, etc. Why so many used MMEs (less than 2 years old)?
Sure the MME looks good, but so what? The big 3 have wasted billions of dollars on good looking junk for decades. Just ask the Germans, the Japanese and Tesla as they laugh all the way to the bank.

Makes my Bolt look better and more valuable everyday. Had they only built an AWD version.

[no anti GM or sell the MME comments, please]

I use BCHF nearly every day for 10mi highway drives. It’s nice. If Ford successfully pushes BC1.2 to me before year end, then I will probably pay the $600 to keep it and see what other enhancements arrive over next three years.

But, yeah, there’s almost no way in hell I would renew at $800/year come 2027. Unless inflation actually makes that pricing reasonable. Shudder.

I hope everyone, or nearly everyone, says no to this nonsense. Ford has lost their mind.

I love my car but this is totally indefensible. I planned on buying Hondas for life until I saw the MME and my chance to go electric earlier than I thought I could. I already upgraded from a Select to the GTPE, and was planning to upgrade again when they did the refresh and not even consider another brand. Now I'll be looking at the Honda/Acura EV offerings closely once they are manufactured in house.

If your job 1 car still doesn’t have BlueCruise you need to talk to your dealer and the Ford customer service Bev team post haste.
