The value placed on "free" fast charging is not strictly a matter of the retail or discounted price of charging on the particular network. As @trutolife27 said, this is a highly individual item. For you, it is worth something. For me, it is completely and utterly worthless. There are no EA chargers within 2,300 nautical miles. Ditto for superchargers. There are no plans by either entity to provide them either. And we're not alone in this fast charging near desert. There are vast swaths of the country where fast charging is a myth. It's highly personal and I find absolutely zero value in Volkswagen's fast charging "bonus."

Further, none of this is truly free. VW has made a business decision and built the value (to them) of the fast charging bonus into the price of the car. You buy an id.4, you paid upfront for the "free" charging. I preferred Ford's approach of reducing the MSRP on my model by $3,000 USD. That's far more useful to me.

My uncertainty is such that I have reservations on both RWD and AWD ID.4 (not first edition).
I don't get why someone would have trouble deciding between these two vehicles. I understand both are electric and both are CUVs, but MME is a higher performance and higher spec'd vehicle. Nothing wrong with the ID4. Hope VW sells a ton of them. However VW is aiming at a price point to drive sales -- and pretty much everything else has been compromised to hit that price point -- whereas Ford has gone more the performance/value route with the MME.

Either choice would be fine, just can't see why it would be difficult to decide between them.

I hate the free charging. Hate hate hate it. Tesla did it and it was a disaster. Lots of municipalities did it and it was a disaster. Long lines of people trying to save a few bucks preventing people needing to charge from getting access.

For me because each has features that I like better than the other.

No heads-up display in the North American model. All options are pretty much the same as in any vehicle in most segments. AKA heated seats aka heated steering wheel.

More range with the Mache
Faster 0 to 60
Mache has a frunk.
Larger display screen.
Better sound system? This is one we are waiting for on December 15th.
One more color option 7 vs 6.
DC charging is 125 vs 150 I think also?
Sure there are more differences anyone else have any more?
