Latest on my 2023 Premium eAWD Ext Vapor Blue Metalic, light grey interior order.

12/27/2022: Dealer places order
4/11/2023: Production started
4/15/2023: MachE Built
5/02/2023: MachE Shipped
5/14 - 5/18/2023 estimated delivery
5/18/2023: Shipping update: Rail location: Junction Point in Corpus Christy, TX (Ford CS Chat)
5/23/2023: Arrives Dealer (SF Bay Area)

Now the hard part: does it still pencil out to sell my current MY22 MachE (CA RT1 RWD, 8k miles, still financed) and pickup the new Premium?

Given the drop in used car values this year, the lower federal rebate, and California pausing EV subsidies (CCFR rebate), the financial impact is a lot different than when I ordered last year.

Does anyone know what SmartVincent financing and incentives were available in December 2022?

I do wonder if I should just wait a couple of years and keep driving the RWD or look at buying a used MY22 Premium eAWD ext. battery model or waiting until 2025 for the mid-cycle refresh or the new three-row SUV that Farley just promised will have 350 miles of range (300 miles at 70 mph): https://insideevs.com/news/668467/ford-three-row-electric-suv-coming-2025-350-miles-range/

Am I the only one in this dilemma?

I don't remember the differences between the 22 CR1 and the 23 Premium, but here are my thoughts.

AWD isn't important where I live (Las Vegas) - we see very little weather, and we have 4x4 F150 if we wanted to head to Mammoth in the winter. I didn't feel the extended battery gave enough more miles to pay another $8k or whatever it was. If it had been the difference between 250 and 500 miles on a charge? If I lived where it gets cold for 1/3 of the year? Sure. For a road trip where I am not confident in the charging availability, I'll just rent a car. I could rent lots of cars for the $ I saved buying the standard battery.

I ordered in Oct 2022. I got the $2k rebate, as well as the Feb 2023 pricing. My interest rate was 4.74 or something - a little over a point lower than the rate Ford has been advertising currently. I did not get (and did not push for, because I don't think it applies anyway) the May 2023 pricing for the 2023.5 models.

At least go sit in it and see what your gut tells you. I personally would not worry a ton about the money. If the 2023 with the specs you ordered better fits your needs/lifestyle, does it really matter if your loan balance is $5k more or less? Or if you qualify for a lower federal tax rebate? You live in the Bay area, I would guess you're not far from the income limit anyway!

Waiting on my 2023 Vapor Blue MachE
Country flag
It’s here!! But after 8 months of waiting, I am buying a house next week, and our mortgage was finalized yesterday. Our lender said that if I added a new loan today, that we would have to go through the entire underwriting process again, and there was a chance we wouldn’t be clear by closing day. ? I knew this would happen when we put the offer in 6 weeks ago!

Thankfully my dealer has been great. They are fine to hold on it until I close on the house, and I’m heading to the dealership tomorrow to check it out, drive it around, and plan for next week!

Premium SR Vapor Blue
Ordered 10/21/22
Manufactured 4/18/23
Shipped 4/20/23
Ready for pickup 5/24/23

Do you know what update your car is on? I'm wondering if it'll be ages before we get updates or if dealers will catch us up. I'm sure it depends on dealers, and whether we give them time with the vehicles or not. haha
Following up on this... it looks like the car was fairly updated when it arrived, but not completely. I got 4.2.1 earlier this week, and 4.2.2 yesterday. I think others just got 4.2.6.

thanks for the update! This is essentially what I figured would happen. Hopefully we get updates quickly and smoothly.

also I’m in a really weird spot. My Mach e still hasn’t gotten to the dealer but my delivery date hasn’t changed. I’m gonna ask my salesperson tomorrow if there’s any way to do any further checking into it.

Im still waiting for my car to get trucked the last hour - it reached the end of the rail on Tuesday. I know others have waited a few weeks for the last mile, so I’ll hope for some time next week…..

Yup. Getting close to a month of waiting that last mile for me. It arrived at the rail yard around 5/2 and has sat since

I wonder what the short and long term effects are on a Mach-E battery and electronics that arrives at a distribution lot and sits there for 3+ weeks?

I figure short term not TOO much, unless the battery was low to begin with. I've heard of people who went away for a few weeks and their MME only lost a couple of % battery sitting there.

I jokingly asked my fiance "should I be worried about my tires dry-rotting by now?" lol

I think they tend to have them around 50% SoC, which is ideal for storage. My Bz4X was sitting around for 6 months waiting for improved wheel bolts, and its battery is just as good as Toyota says it should be.

Not to mention the worry lines, stress headaches and probably gray hairs that are being caused in everyone here.
