I don't have a GTPE but I do have a standard GT and an R1T and I love them both.

My '22 GT is a lot of fun to drive and the fit and finish is excellent. But the ride quality sucks and the infotainment is glitchy at best. I wish I would have sprung for the PE version to get the magneride suspension but I didn't want summer tires and shorter range. Oh well.

My '22 R1T is the best car/truck I've ever owned. Fit and finish isn't great but everything else is pretty damn good. I thought I would miss Carplay but I don't miss it all.

I can drive either on most days and 90% of the time I choose the R1T. My wife prefers the MME, which works out nicely.

Most everyone who I talk to in public that owns a Rivian says the exact same. Best vehicle or truck I've ever owned.

As for ACP, it's refreshing to hear you say that because I similarly thought the same. I don't miss AA at all.

I watched this last night. One of the biggest differences between Rivian and Ford is that Rivian listens to the community and releases monthly updates that delight. Neither vehicle is perfect but Rivian communicates with their owners and shows that they care to make it better. Updates enhance things, they feel polished and any bugs are quickly addressed. Ford could do this as well, but they don't. Instead they leave people months, or years, on end with the same issues, regression in updates and release notes that fail miserably.

I think Kyle says it all when he says he's excited for what's to come. There's a level of excitement for each release and each announcement to make what we already purchased that much better.

Stop! You are making me think about getting my first ever pickup truck! The problem is the wife... And I do really enjoy my MME.

Well, I remember replying to a thread "What's your next car after the Mach E", saying I'm just holding onto the MachE until my Rivian delivers.
However I switched from the MachE first edition after 40k miles to a Land Rover Velar, and then in 4 weeks to MachE GT PE (Hated the Velar), and now finally my Rivian R1S is here, and it's good bye MachE and this Forum. Loved every minute in the MachE, made it so much easier to trust EVs. Going to miss it.

Here some of my best pictures of all of them and the Rivian at delivery.

Congrats!

I just received full R1 shop access for my July/Aug 2021 order and picked a Launch Edition R1S. I don't think I will trade the Mach-E away though.

The Ioniq 5 will probably go first (nice car but lacks any personality).

There are other Rivian options that aren’t a pickup truck or an Amazon van.

Yep. I like the S but probably the R2 will be too small for me.

I've now taken the Mach-E (two of them) and my R1S onto the Daytona track for tour laps (max speed 108mph) and they are such different beasts. Nobody should buy a R1T/R1S and expect a luxurious ride nor something that handles like a GT PE. These are very much trucks. My R1S handles like my Grand Cherokee... honestly hard to distinguish them and if you've driven a GC you will know it is not a sport cars at all.

I don't think the intent was ever to compare the R1T to the GTPE on the track. It should also be noted that the graphic you posted is in the highest off-road mode setting. In sport mode the clearance is only 7.9".

It's 9" on the R1S in Sport mode and going around the 31 degree bank made me sh*t my pants with the R1S being much higher off the ground whereas I had no issues with the i4 + Mach-E + Ioniq 5 before.

On the street, I've squealed the tires a few times hard accelerating around corners. The 7000+ lbs causes the R1S to slide into other lanes so I know it's limits.

I’m not trying to be funny or sarcastic (for a change) @DevSecOps , but one of these vehicles is an electric SUV/CUV and the other is a pickup. Why would people want that particular matchup? I’d be interested in the Rivian if not for their (lack of business) status in the 50th state and the too small bed for my needs. But I don’t see the comparison beyond the obvious like general observations about paint, panels, etc. I do, however, genuinely appreciate the immense amount of effort you put into that post and the sheer volume of information contained in it.

Well.... There's actually a lot of people from this forum who compared the two and ended up switching to Rivian. I leveraged many of them in my original decision. So, while there are obvious differences, some people are open minded and considering either or wanting to switch to something a little more versatile. The more I drive the truck I've found that it actually rides much better than the GTPE when it's in all purpose mode. I need to revise some of my OP.

As for the size of your bed, I think you should consult with your wife on that one and not the forum. We might get you in some hot water.

Personally it was Rivian that first got me excited about getting a BEV. I followed them closely, day after day, month after month, until the MME caught my attention. I wish Rivian delivered on their promise to have a removable roof. And they took forever to deliver a max pack truck. I might still get a Rivian, but it will mean selling my MME. I am not ready to do that.

The point is, I appreciate the comparison because I am still thinking about getting a Rivian. And it would be a transition from MME to Rivian, just like the OP describes.

Thanks Todd!
