Are you using your phone or a fob? With the phone I know some folks have had connectivity issues so it may be dropping connection and therefore not detecting that you're walking away from the car.

With the fob, it may be worth checking the battery, when it's low it can be inconsistent even responding to button presses but also causes it not to see the fob walk away.

Mine is set up to honk on lock as I walk away. Sometimes it doesn't do the honk, but if I hand the fob to a companion and walk back to check, it's locked. ?

Yes, mine hanks too. But when it doesn't, it's not locked either.

Once, at a highway stop, I noticed that the car didn’t auto-lock on walk-away. Hmm, I thought.
Upon further reflection, an aha! Moment. My wife, had left her bag in the car, which had her FOB in the bag. Never happened again after that realization.

More electronic features more problems, hahaha, welcome to the world of Chinese or Mexican manufactured electronic control modules, now if it all was made in Germany it would all flawlessly work or work a lot better. German electronics superceed Chinese or Japanese electronics, they just do not manufacture cell phones, Samsung and i-phones are the 2 best, unless you want the Nokia gaming phone and have about 3 grand laying around to buy the phone. I don't know how the Samsung gaming phone compares to the Nokia one but think the Nokia one is much better due to you can add a keyboard and a sound system to the Nokia one, im sure you could get a Bluetooth keyboard with a mouse pad and possibly add it to the Samsung.

Ah at least it doesn't allow you to lock the doors if a fob is detected but that may glitch in the future. And if you have an older ford with a keypad even if you lock your key inside the vehicle you still can unlock the driver door with your code or the factory code.

It does allow you to. It just won’t do it automatically.

I haven't seen a Ford pickup, SUV, or car since 2017 put the keypad on their vehicles they mostly now have the finger pads or auto lock or unlock or the fob, they aren't the most aesthetically pleasing especially when the number pads age and yellow I know i have an 04 Excursion, and the number pads are aged and yellowed, and don't even think Ford manufacturers new ones any longer, after 10 years, certain parts are no longer available from the Stealership, lol, and buying the cheapest Chinese knockoffs are not advisable.

Do you by chance carry both a fob and a PaaK-enabled phone?

I usually carry a (modified F150 Lightning) fob because I like having the frunk button on it, but I also had PaaK enabled on my iPhone. Walk-away lock almost never worked. The car would only lock when it timed out out (I think after two minutes), which of course is a long time, especially in a big city. I disabled PaaK on my phone and auto-lock now works (nearly) 100% of the time.

I have an issue where the car locks/honks when I walk a few yards away when using the fob. But I can walk across a parking lot into a store and the car doesn't lock using PAAK. I'll come out to an unlocked car.
