Polestar is, officially, Swedish. Made in China, sure. Owned by Geely, yes. Buy not the same as BYD or NIO. They even stole Volvo's "Hammer of Thor" headlights to remind you they are basically a Volvo
oficially Sweedish? designed in china... made in china... = Chineese...

There is a good argument to say we are approaching The Chasm:

Ford Mustang Mach-E Oversupply? Are EV’s struggling to sell? Chasm

Geoffrey Moore wrote a book detailing the adoption of Tech, and I've read a few articles to suggest we have arrived at The Chasm...

Yeah, I think there is a case here for the Chasm... but lets keep in mind a few things.

  • EV adoption overall will grow more than 50% this year... again.
  • The best selling car in the world is electric
  • There is a big difference between market saturation as all the "me too" companies offer EVs and overall customer adoption. 40+ new EV models this year and next is too many for everyone offering EVs to thrive.

Designed by their current CEO, who is actually German.
hmm I work directly with a few CEOs of fairly large companies... even some with engineering backgrounds... I've never met one that had actively designed anything in more than 20 years.

Designed it before he was named CEO - to me that makes for a questionable CEO choice. He's a car designer by trade, was head of design at Skoda, then moved to Volvo. Last time I saw a designer run a company was my time at Burberry when Christopher Bailey was CEO. Not a great result.

Talk about a tangent...

I’m reading more and more about how EV’s including the Mach-e are piling up on dealers’ lots with not enough buyers. The evidence in the UK is clear as there are now so many new Mach-e’s available immediately. I’m sure part of the problem is that Tesla’s price reductions have not been matched by Ford leaving a huge disparity between the brands in price but not performance. The cost of living crisis isn’t helping either.

I think this is going to be a significant problem for Ford and other EV manufacturers over the next 12 months and that’s before the Chinese EVs arrive in large numbers. This article gives an indication of the problem and notes that some dealers are turning down their allocation of the Mach-e.

I was at a Ford dealer yesterday, he reports the opposite. They're still having long waits and issues getting cars. There's not a back log or back orders, but he says the Mach E is still hard to get and there's a several month wait if you order one.

OEMs need to do a ton of education about what EVs are and are not so customers can make informed decisions. In the short-term I do think it is driven by the price disparity between Tesla and everyone else. I anticipate being in the market for a new car soon. I will never buy another ICE, so checking out various options and test driving some. There is little chance I’d end up with anything but a Tesla despite having 3 lovely ladies in my household who swore they’d never ride in it :) (anti-Musk, not Tesla).
A couple of things here...

My ICE vehicle is a Corvette. One of the reasons I moved away from it as my daily driver was "the interview". I just wanted to go to the store get a couple of things and head home without the beautiful car interview.

The Mach E was achieving this and other positive things for me until a couple of recent visits to the golf course. The post round visit (19th hole) to the frunk for refreshments is usually what starts it. Now I'm literally selling folks on the benefits of driving an EV. The other day, a gentleman with a Honda SUV asked me if my car was really a Mustang, since it didn't say "Mustang" or "Ford" anywhere on the car. After we got past that (there is one Blue Oval at the top of the windshield) he wanted to know about driving an EV.

Understand that we are the real source of information, we're standing in a big gap in the automotive world. There is always resistance to change and it's human nature to focus on the cons regardless of how many more pros there are. With the current climate situation expected to worsen in the next few years I guess it's up to us to sell, sell, sell as the auto and fossil fuel industry are reluctant to.

But it is getting better, right?

So have you tried taking the Mach E to Phoenix or Vegas Or are you just assuming you’ll dislike the experience? Others on this forum said the same thing until they actually road tripped their Mach E and it changed their opinions.

I barely take it to Los Angeles from San Diego and that's 131 miles one way, been using our ICE for that trip recently, I average 65 kwh on the EA charger assuming you can find one that's available and working in LA, my trips are usually quick so I don't like to charge, if I had a Porsche or a Tesla obviously it would be more convenient.

California. Different mindset. No one I know buys cars and flips them. We don't have lines for charging.
Charging here is a bit more challenging, I live in San Diego, when I used to charge on EA weekly, it's almost rare that I show up at an empty stall, if it's empty 99% it's broken, someone posted here about a smoked charger that damaged their car at San Diego Fashion Valley mall, that's one of the main EA charging stations, I've charged there maybe 10 times in the last 6 months, not a single time I showed up to no line, I always had to wait and the one port with chadmeo seems to be out of use almost every single time, this location has 4 EA chargers, 2 or 3 EVGO but about 20-30 Tesla Superchargers so makes sense why my friends switched.

I had a torch red C5 coupe when I was 25. Was a great daily driver and a chick magnet of sorts. Didn't really experience the 'interview' often cause I lived in south east Michigan where corvettes were a dime a dozen. Put 45k miles on it in 3 years, and a month before turning it in I blew the transmission. Never drove it again.

I agree that we are the best advertisement for the vehicle. However, buying a car often comes down to the economics. That's where Ford and other OEMs should put ad dollars to break it down to people and help them get over the hump. Everyone gets so fixated on the range that is only important on road trips. How many road trips does the average consumer take per year?

I’ve driven my Mach E MD-FL twice, MD-NY twice, and MD-IN once. When I rented a brand new GMC SUV for a 2-1/2 hour from Edmonton to Jasper on a recent business trip, I found myself wishing I had rented an electric. My experience road-tripping the Mach E has been great.
Mine too.

We've taken it across six states (including from LA, through Phoenix, and on to Flagstaff in one trip and from Flagstaff to LA and back many times). We've done more than 70 DCFC charge sessions, and have spent 640 hours in it driving almost 23,000 miles. It's one of the best road trip vehicles we've ever owned.

You can build them, but you can’t make people buy them.

Just wait until all 45 new crossover BEV models hit the market in the next few years.

That’s right…… 45 competing models from various manufacturers all at the same time trying to go after the same small target market.

And we wonder why Tesla slashed prices?? Trying to put a corner on the market before everyone else gets here.
And herein lies the problem. Why does it all have to be crossovers and "SUVs?" Surely we can get another body type.
