Demand for what exactly??? If they are building the car, built it right from the start. It's like saying we built you a car that requires you to remove 2 panels just to add window washer fluid, and we put a convenient washer fluid symbol on those panels... why? Because we did... who knows what we were thinking.?‍♂

That's exactly what they did with the 12v battery service location.

I can understand they probably have a bunch of parts in stock that they will want to use up with the crappy design, but you would assume someone at Ford looked at this, scratched their head for a bit and said, perhaps we should redesign this part for the next production run ehh? I mean this thread is about the new frunk tub redesign, so it's not like they aren't getting through legacy parts. I doubt very much someone at Ford ordered 4 times more panels than frunk tubs... and it's far more likely they just didn't care enough to update the design of the existing panels to provide 12v access points where they have already obviously labeled them.

Anyway... here's to hoping someone uses a bit of common sense and updates this design, because it's absurd!!
The Ford bean counters base their decisions on cost vs payback. I guess they decided against it. Agree it doesn't make sense but for them it does. Rivian did the same thing.

Hey everyone! I am a new MME owner, new to the forum and THIS is my first post!! I purchased a 2023 GT (Standard/Non-Performance) this week and noticed that the frunk had a slightly different design compared to other Mach-E's I looked at. The key differences are that there are raised ridges on the bottom, two drainage ports and, if you look at the upper rear portion of the well, you'll see two gaps that look like a place to attach an accessory.

FYI - The build date on my car is 06/06/2023

I'd be interested to hear if anyone knows what these are for?

I would say hangers or net ?‍♂

absolutely agree. I really wish they would have added a little access door similar to what they already have for access to the headlight connector (which no one really ever needs to access, ironically enough)
I guess having a door to the battery area would compromise the ability to hose it out (as is sold as a marketing point - with the drain holes). But then this logic doesn’t hold up with the headlight connector door…

I cannot for the life of me understand why we are 3 model years into production, and they still have not added this! It's insane that you we literally have to remove multiple panels just to get access to it, particularly when they teased us with the + and - symbols directly above those panels, which is exactly where folks are drilling them out to create access.
Pretty simple. Car is perfect and you will never have a need to access battery, it bullet proof, ?

Wonder if they would be strong enough to hang a spare tire mount on them…..

How long does the ice last before it melts?
Never left it in there long enough to find out. I think I only had that food in there for a couple of hours. There was plenty of ice left. You can always add more though.

They also seem to have removed these bushings (if that's what they are).

I wonder if that makes it easier to close the frunk. Compared to other EVs closing the frunk can be a little violent for new owners.

interesting it doesn't appear to have the "lower back wall" anchor points that the current ones have anymore too
It would also appear that all the fasteners are now exposed instead of hidden behind other panels that have to be removed for access. Meaning the frunk tub can come out a whole lot faster than the older versions.

And if we're tracking build dates vs. tub designs mine is the second version with no dividers (Type II) and my build date is 14 Mar.

Mine was build the beginning of April and is the same. I noticed it but never thought much of it, I have only ever use the frank once.
To be frank, it's a frunk.

I have never used the frunk. Not really needed or convenient.

I have the new tub design on my April 2023 build premium, but I still have the"bushings" also.

Not to mention both times the Ford techs had to remove them, the pins on the top panel were broken. I still have to go back and get mine replaced.
