I bought a 2023 GT model less than 2 months ago. It has only 1,200 miles on it. I have had to take it in for service 3 times already, this will be my fourth time. Every time I take it in, they want to hang onto my car for a minimum of 3 days before they can even tell me what the problem is. Then they require 3-5 days to get parts in, then it takes them 3-5 days to fix the issue. On a BRAND NEW CAR.

First problem I had was an error that popped up and wouldn’t go away. I took it to a dealer, they held into it for 4 days and all they did was disconnect the battery for a couple of nights and it went away. They didn’t do anything to diagnose the problem. Couldn’t be bothered to have someone take a quick scan.

Second problem I’ve had was my brakes. They make a very loud squeak noise when I come to a complete stop and when I start again. I’ve tried bedding the brakes multiple times with no success. Took it into the dealer I purchased the car from and again they wanted to sit in it for 3 days before anyone could even look at it. I was then told my rear brakes were bad (only 1,000 miles at this point) and they needed to order brakes and it would take 3 days to get them. Ridiculous considering I can overnight these brakes from Ford myself. However, the next day I’m told they fixed my brakes and to come grab my car. I drove all the way up there (it’s an hour from where I live) and My service person starts to tell me about how my front brakes will need to replaced again in about 5,000 miles. I said “wait, front brakes? You told me rear brakes.. and why on earth would I need to replace my brakes so frequently on an EV?!” He got really quiet and then said “you’re not Mr. X?”He completely mistook me and almost gave me the keys to some other persons car!

After he realized his mess up, he called the shop and asked them if they ordered the brakes yet. I got to hear the call since he had it on speaker phone. The tech said “oh no, haven’t ordered them yet.” So he said they’d order them immediately and to bring my car back on Wednesday (2 days later). On Wednesday I call and make sure we are still on. No response. Left message. No response. Texted multiple times. No response. Finally I call around 3pm and ask what is going on and the service person said he’s been trying to get a response from the tech but he hasn’t responded yet. He finally hears from the tech and the tech says he can’t start on the car until the following week, he’s too backed up. I said “wait, we scheduled an appointment for me to have work done today, how is that possible?” And he just said “he just got backed up.” Two days, I get an email and a call saying my brakes are in and I can make an appointment to have them installed now. THEY NEVER ORDERED MY BRAKES that entire time and tried to pawn it off on being backed up.

During my time with the car waiting for my brakes, I’ve had three other issues come up with this lemon of a car. Suddenly I’m getting an error saying the front camera is malfunctioning. It goes away and comes back. Sometimes it stays on all day. Also noticed I haven’t been getting OTA updates and noticed under software updates it says one update wasn’t completed. Also, lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control will not work at all and I get a warning saying it’s malfunctioning.

So, I text my service person and say “hey, can y’all look at these issues while it’s in the shop for the brakes?” His response “We will need 3 days to diagnose and then can tell you if we need to order parts.” I say “but can’t you have someone run a diagnostic check while they’re doing the brakes and just let me know what’s going on? What if it’s a 5 minute fix?” He said they can’t do that and they are too backed up. So I’m going to have to leave my car there for 1 week just to get all of these issues looked at, then likely another 1-2 weeks so they can get parts in and install them. If this happens, I will have had my car in the service shop for 1/3 of the time I’ve owned the car if I add up all of the time it’s been i

This is my first Ford. I have owned Kia, Hyundai, Toyota, Genesis, and Mercedes. Been buying cars for 25 years and NEVER have I had such a horrible experience with a service department than I have had with Ford. I have tried all 3 dealerships around me and they are all incredibly awful with their service. All of these other cars have taken my car in immediately, diagnosed the issue in 1 day and let me know what’s going on and keep me updated. Not Ford. Ford hasn’t even offered me a loaner vehicle during all of this time. I’m just screwed.

I don’t know what to do but after all of this I’m almost willing to deal with the $10,000-15,000 new car tax and trade this car in and get one that actually works and when it doesn’t, they’re actually efficient at getting it back up to working condition.

The one experience I had with the dealer was awful. Luckily I didn’t have to go back since. I made an appointment for the one year service last week and ended up canceling it. I felt like I was setting myself up for a bad experience, so decided that I am willing to take the chance on not doing any preventative maintenance until something happens. And no I’m not exaggerating.

I only have 3 dealers around me within a 30 minute drive. I drove 1 hour to get to the dealer I bought the car from. All of these dealers are claiming they’re “too backed up.” It’s not like I’m choosing specific dealers. They’re all just bad around me apparently.
Whenever I call dealers around me, they all say they are 3-5 days wait for diagnostics.

Ultimately, none of this should be an issue on a brand new car. The fact I’m having all of these issues on a brand new car is ridiculous.

I feel your pain. 25 months of ownership and my MME has been in the shop four months. I have tried two dealers and they both suck. None of my issues have been major. It has been such a terrible experience. I have 23 months left on my options plan and will never purchase a Ford again. My first new car 35+ years ago was a Ford. Yesterday my mother said "I don't know why you ever bought a Ford again after the nightmare you had with that Mustang". Best of luck!

Thank you. I thought this thread was just going to turn into a gaslighting thread from folks that didn’t even read what I wrote. I’m glad a couple of folks have at least show some empathy! ?

Sorry to hear you’ve had similar issues. At this point, I will not being buying another Ford. $70k vehicle and I’ve had better experiences with $35k vehicles.

That sounds pretty bad. My service over almost 2 years has been quite good. Service quality seems to vary a lot, depending on the dealer. Hope it gets better for you.

Sorry to hear. 15 months, no issues, 10,000 checkup had to be scheduled 3 months in advance. Only one EV tech. No complaints though.

Check your lemon laws. Have the dealer replace your vehicle with a new one of your choosing. If continued problems with car or dealers consult an attorney. You shouldn’t have that many problems with a new $70K vehicle. Doesn’t sound typical but quite unfortunate.

Jesus, I actually have a great dealer. The people there are super professional and are actually interested in helping their clients, I feel lucky.

The first Ford dealer I bought from I didn’t care much for, due to the service after sales. I felt happy that I traded in that MME and forced them to refund me the ESP I didn’t use.

OP’s MME sure has a lot of problems. Nothing worse then an unreliable car.

My dealer does an acceptable job but it always takes 7-10 days to schedule an appointment. When I got my 2nd keyfob under the CSR, they had me schedule an appointment so they could scan my VIN before Ford would let them order the part. It took a 2nd appointment for the keyfob programming.

it usually takes me 7 days to schedule an appointment on my ICE vehicles.
