One down-side to buying an 2021job2: there are a handful of little behaviors or functional areas that don't feel as polished as the newer car. Based on less than 12 hours of ownership:
  • DCFC never got above 62 kW, rather than the ~100 kW average of the later model.
  • BlueCruise hands-free, while available, was a bit ping-pongy and felt like it wanted me to take the wheel more than the '22 would have
.
I have an early 2021 job 1. I don’t DCFC often. One of the last times I did was at a pretty new EA station in Booneville, Mo. My rate started at 162 KW and tapered to somewhere between 110 and 120 KW. There is an older and more used EA station in St. Charles that usually starts at 125-ish and tapers to somewhere in the 75 - 100 range. That’s when it working properly.

I’ve never experienced the ping pong effect with BCHF, but I do feel it tends to not want to engage as quickly as it should on some highways. The service tech at my dealer says all Fords have that issue to some extent.

The one thing about BlueCruise that’s easy to tell on a GT-PE is: Glass roof. If it has the glass roof, it has the Ford Co-Pilot 360/Active 2.0 package that is mandatorily bundled with the glass roof. If it doesn’t, it’s incapable of supporting BlueCruise. ?‍♂?
That is so weird. WTAF was marketing thinking on that one? Another example of why they should only have a couple of gummies at a time, and not the whole bag.

They were probably thinking that the 2021 GTs only started delivery at the END of 2021. They only had a few months to get those built and delivered.

So they gave us less options to pick from. They changed it in subsequent years (when they had a whole 12 months to play with).

They decided to tie The two options together, but not make them a singular option package. It all boiled down to making the panoramic roof mandatory for Ford Co-Pilot 360/Active 2.0 to be ordered, and vice-versa. Can't have one without the other. Ford's way of making extra money, only in my case Ford didn't make the extra money on the 360 cameras. Most people simply don't care or prefer the glass roof. Since both are "standard" equipment now, I guess that's fine (it just drives the base price of the GT/GT-PE option higher). I just won't be driving a '22 or newer GT-PE because the metal roof is necessary for me. To me a performance car needs to shed weight, not add it. The glass is heavier than the steel. ?‍♂?

The funny thing is this wasa a mandatory option bundle only on the PE. The regular US-spec GT could be ordered with one or the other in 2021. I almost went that way, but the bigger brakes and Magneride were too attractive to me. ??
