Good evening,

I had my vehicle serviced today and mentioned shaking of the steering when braking at speed. I mentioned I had it looked at before at another dealer. They checked it and then said I had warped rotors and need to be replaced and not covered under warranty even though not 3 years and less than 30k on vehicle. Was quoted 252 and change each on front and 113 each on change on rear on itemized doesn't mention pads. I looked up through the dealerwebsite redirect to parts.ford.comfront is 200 each and rear are 63 each what's everyone's thoughts?? I am at a loss?? Why such a discrepancy in price. And yes they are the same part numbers on service order as website.

I assume that quote is the installed price and includes labor?

And yes, it’s not unheard of to need new rotors that quickly in an EV. Plenty of threads on here about how to extend the life of your brakes

Hmm ok I hope installed price I didn't think, was installed price will have to call and check again because when I asked for out the door price over phone was quoted 1200 and some and thought was high but figured would wait till I got invoice and did more research.

Check and see if your car qualifies for the brake pad sticking TSB. I had all 4 of my rotors replaced under that, which was covered under warranty.

I wish they stated in the report that when removed their was no sticking of the pad and even mentioned oasis and 22-2203. Only said warped rotors didn't mention anything about rotor thickness. Did say they were previously resurfaced though.

Out of curiosity, what drive mode do you use?

When my wife drives uses engage, and when commute I do the same. If I'm by myself I usually use unbridled. If talking one pedal I used it to drive around the block and didn't like it so since than have it in what I consider normal.

Just called and talked to service and no it's not installed just parts and of course we'll have to talk to parts dept. He also mentioned this is the price parts gave him. I did get a second opinion and they did say I would need new rotors. Guess if they won't make right I won't expect them and get a refund cause an extra 200 some in parts price alone is ridiculous.

Dealers do play games with parts cost. Sometimes the Parts Dept. will sell it for less than what the Service Dept. will charge you. I have heard all the excuses of we have to make a profit, it is different department so we have to mark it up, oh that is a discounted public walk in cost, etc. I would call them on it and ask why the increased cost. If they give you any double talk, tell him you will buy it from Parts, pick it up there, and hand carry it over to the Service Dept, thus avoiding the increased carry charges. The other option, if it available, is let your money do the talking, go to another dealer.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, I found a dealer in Florida selling front for 113 plus shipping still less than buying two from them so guess I will just get a refund since they said needed to charge for parts to special order and go-to a local shop and have them install for me.

Mine have been resurfaced many times and they’re on their last leg. Might need to be replaced when I take it in for this reason they’re warped. My car is 2.5 years old with 30,000 miles on it.

Those exact Motorcraft numbers are $113.79 and $44.79, respectively on RockAuto.

Resurfaced “many times?”

That seems a bit crazy especially considering how little we use the friction brakes in these cars. I would expect the rotors to last significantly longer than an ICE. And I got 50-60k out of my ICE vehicles rotors.

For the OP- I have warped rotors in the past either by driving through puddles or washing my car when the brakes were still hot.
