Looks promising although will depend on the (UK) price. There seems to be a straight conversion of 1 to 1 between $ and £ at the moment in the real world which puts UK buyers at an instant disadvantage. This is especially true with PC components.

Looks very Mach-E inside with hopefully none of the squeaks and rattles. I like the rear view camera on the roof giving better visibility and no rear window as the current trend for "letterbox style" rear windows means they're not much use anyway.

Thoughts? Good and Bad?

Looks nice but I absolutely hate the lack of a rear window! What if the camera element glitches or fails?

I hate how car manufacturers are trying to get rid of every single functionally traditional element.

Or a rogue seagull with really good aim. Does it come with a wiper?

The car looks nice. Until you get to that lack of a rear window. Ugh. ??

I read the additional information. Like the technical features, passenger features, applications features. Looks help, but I'm more interested in the fundamentals. A couple of points and questions as items to consider. I'm not trying to create controversy.
  • The front motor can be disengaged to improve efficiency, i.e. reduce unneeded mechanical power output and mechanical drag when traveling longer distances, i.e. freeways/interstates.
    • Question: How does this operate? Can the disengage mechanisms be a point of failure or point of additional maintenance?
    • Question: Will the efficiency gain be worth the feature compared to other vehicles? I did not see that Polestar provided the efficiency gain as miles or kilometers per Kwh.
    • Question: Will the implementation be readily available from a button, home screen or embedded within one or more menu screens? I would want it easily accessible.
  • Who services Polestar? I met a Polestar owner a couple months ago who said Volvo services in the U.S. Does Polestar have a service support network in Europe?

I always ask myself "wouldn't it be nice if I couldn't look out the rearview mirror to see what's behind me?"

I do appreciate that they're trying to implement something new however.

Aren't the Polestars made in China?

Had a top of the range Suburban once as a rental, had a camera screen for the rear view mirror, no glass just a camera in the rear and a screen up front.... foggy misty nasty November day, camera misted up which resulted in no rear view. Fantastic technology. Just put a bloody pane of glass in the rear and a mirror to see through it.

They are opening a factory in the US to manufacture the 3 and this 4. It will be a joint plant with Volvo I believe.
Geely owns both Volvo & Polestar, so not really a joint venture in the traditional sense :)

Correct, but Geely also split off Polestar from Volvo, they are now their own entities.
Agreed, but it's still the same parent. Polestar and Volvo are Geely brands. In fact Volvo will be selling a minivan soon (ouch!), which is basically a Geely model with a Volvo badge. Geely didn't want to sell Polestar through Volvo dealerships to make it look like they were a completely different company. A buddy of mine was a sales guy at Volvo for a few years.
