Wait, what? Efficiency? Lol. The only important metric is range recovery over time. Who gives a crap about efficiency?
You look like a troll. Go away.

I wouldn't buy vehicles based on charging speed alone. And charging speed doesn't override fugly or poor acceleration or poor fit and finish or poor features.

Assuming everything else was the same, the relative difference would be the thing to focus on if one takes trips requiring multiple DC fast charging stops. Most owners don't do that.

Even then, it has to be a noticeable difference. Taking 40 minutes instead of 30, on a 3 charge trip, is 30 minutes. Total.

None of that data matters much because it is rare that I can find a public fast charger that can supply 150KW and works. Most chargers in Wisconsin are the 62 KW chargpoint type. Even the EA ones that are rated at 150 are rarely fully functional.

It absolutely, positively, has NEVER EVER taken me 20 minutes to add one hundred miles to my 2022 Premium extended range Mach E on my dozen or so 400 mile trips to Dallas. The Edmunds results are disappointingly complicated. There are sooo many variables left out of their “comprehensive” analysis.

This is all about 'use case.' I knew the US infrastructure is not built for EVs, but I bought one anyway. Why? Because 95% of my driving is less than 20 miles per day; 4% is a 150 mile trip every other week; and I have taken ONE road trip of 2,500 miles. Stopping to charge during my road trip was a 45 minute exercise (to find a working charge station in some random neighborhood, waiting my turn, connecting and then charging). I have owned my MME GT PE for 510 days and have charged at home for 500 of those days. If I wanted to eliminate the 45 minutes on road trips, I would buy an ICE vehicle and miss out on the best car I have ever purchased- the MME GT PE. Charging speed really means nothing to me.

Most of those cars ahead of the MME are higher than 150kw. Of course they would be faster. Guys it’s not that bad. I commute 56 miles one way 5 days a week and only charge at home overnight. By the time my off day arrives my SoC is at like 30% and the car can charge my first off day all day.
It’s really not bad. But think we get envious/jealous of other vehicles but few other options at this price range has everything the MME has. I hate when we nit pick the MME. just like ICE cars they all have their advantages and disadvantages
The MME’s slow charging is detrimental on a bunch of different levels. It means that the MME is technologically behind its competition which affects new sales and resales. It puts a strain on the public infrastructure by reducing throughput. It wastes owners time and it wastes the time of others who have to wait behind the MME.

The benchmark standard Tesla takes 12 minutes to add 100 miles according to their testing. The mustang takes an additional 6 minutes. The most interesting part of the testing as that there are over 40 EV cars to choose from. Wow!
I normally get 120 miles in 20 minutes for my CART1, a bit faster than their test results. My Rivian can add about the same amount of range at highway speeds, even though the input power is higher. Both give me 300 miles of range at 70-75mph.

This is very funny.

So, when you buy a vehicle made in 2021, as it becomes slower to charge than vehicles made after it, we should what - dispose of it? Or ban it from public charging?

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

The popular, cheapest Teslas with LFP batteries are also 150 kW vehicles.

Teslarati bitch about this all of the time. If you search the Tesla enthusiast YouTube base, you'll come away with the anecdotal impression that Tesla charging curves aren't everything that people try to tell us.

To me, my MME GT PE does not seem very efficient from a number of angles.

But I'm willing to consider that the extra battery between 91 kWh and 99 kWh is there for a reason, and I'm willing to believe that the 150 kW nominal charging rate is there is keep the temperatures down and increase the retention of full capacity over time.

Love the car and all its technology that makes driving so easy, even if it's going to lose a charging contest to a Taycan.

So yeah the mustang is not the fastest. But it looks a lot better than the others. I was a shocked to see so many with over 10% charging loss. I would not be happy with this. Think of how much you are paying for that is wasted. Would you fill up a ICE with a gas tank with a leak of 10% of the gas pumped?

Hang on. How did they avoid the thermal panic that all of the 800 volt Korean cars are famous for?

Edmunds did a comprehensive charging speed test on dozens of EVs in the US market.

Out of 43 tested vehicles the MME 4X and GTPE came in #40 and #41, respectively. Only the Bolt EV and EUV were slower to add miles.

Had a ioniq 5 on order . One major point was the 800v charge rate but truth is i will never use it i always charge at home .for most this does not matter other than resale .

Funny, the Mach E has been out long enough for Ford to have oodles of charging data. You'd think they would be able to use that data to massage the curve or top charging speed a bit more so it means less time at the charger.
