New Mach-E Owner with a few questions

Hey,

I have a couple of questions and if i'm posting this in the wrong section let me know please.

1. Is there a way using my VIN to look up my window sticker (since I stupidly threw it away).
2. I have a 2023 Premium AWD ER Version, at least that's what I believe that I purchased is there a way to check in the vehicle which version I have?
3. I have the Parking Assist button but the dealership told me "ford hasn't told them why it's there, it doesn't do anything". After looking on here I saw that there was a chip shortage and basically they removed the functionality or something like that. Is it EVER going to be available to me or am I SOL?
4. I have the "handless entry" sign on my trunk but the functionality isn't there if I kick out my foot, is that another feature that isn't there but displayed on my vehicle?
5. I believe I was supposed to have the light shine on the ground when the car was locked/unlocked but I haven't seen it once yet the option is on in the settings. Am I doing something wrong?
6. I received an update on November 17 that updated Ford Power-Up (or something like that) to 4.2.1 but I see on here that people are receiving 6+? Are they incremental updates and do I have to do them as I receive them or is there a way to just get the latest? When I check for updates it says there isn't any (on the vehicle)

I’ll take a shot at #3-5

2023’s do not have the parking or kick gate chips.

The puddle lights work when you walk away a certain distance and come back. Doesn’t have anything to do with locking or unlocking the car.

At my house they don’t work because the location of my garage to the rest of my house. There is always a fob or my phone within range of my car.

when I go out to dinner and come back to my MME they work every time. Can’t see them during the day unless you put your hand under the mirror.

1. No idea.
2. Look at the car side badge, it will say Mach e4X. 4 being AWD, X being ER battery. The VIN also tells. Google Mach e VIN decoder.
3. The feature has been removed on newer models.
4. same as above.
5. The horse puddle light? You have to have the auto mirror fold. It only works when the mirror is folded. It will show horse logo when you approach the car.
6. The updates will come when they become available. It is release in batches of cars. Just install it whenever you get the notice.

I'll take a stab at these:

#1. FordDirect.com apparently shows window stickers, and there are lots of services that tie into that (http://fordwindowsticker.com/ is one of many). But at least right now, I get the same response from multiple services, saying "The window sticker has not been released for this vehicle" (mine is also a 2023.0 Premium)

#2. If you ordered your MME through Ford, you can log onto the website and go to the Reservations And Orders section, and look at your order. It lists the relevant details in there. Not sure if you can do it (other than window sticker) if you bought the car from a dealer or private party, instead of ordering it.

#3-#4. As you had found out, there were supply chain shortages for the chips for both the parking assist and rear liftgate kick. In 2022, they listed them as being there, and some of the hardware was there, but you had to get the dealer to install the chips when they became available. For these reasons, they removed the features from the 2023s. But my 2023 Premium AWD doesn't have either the parking button or the handless entry sticker... There are some aftermarket modules for the rear liftgate (look on ev-vida.com), but I never dug into whether they were only for the 2022s or whether they can be installed on a 2023.

#5. The puddle lights turn on when you approach the car, usually about 15-20' away for me. I believe it is possible to turn them off from the center screen, so you should make sure that they're on. But hockeydave is right, you can't see them until it's dark. (And they annoyingly shut off after you open the first door. So if you're putting something in the back seat, they shut off before you can get in the driver's seat...)

#6. The OTA update process is somewhat opaque. The updates generally happen in order, but not every car gets every update, and they don't come to everyone at the same time. So with a 2023, you have features that aren't in the 2021-2022 models yet, like BlueCruise 1.2. It seems that most of the updates that are coming this fall are in preparation for BlueCruise 1.3, but you already have some of the features that the older cars don't, so you won't get every update... And you have no real control over what updates you get or don't. You CAN go into your settings and schedule when you would like the updates that require the car to not be driven for certain days/times of the week, so that they don't try to install when you're driving. I have mine set to install at 3AM on any day... But some of the updates actually come when you're driving, and you'll get notifications that they happened after the fact in the FordPass app.

If you purchased your car recently from a dealer, it probably wasn't getting updates until it was attached to your account, which might be why you recently got a 4.x.x update. For me, I have only had one instance where I got more than one OTA update in a week, and for me, there are usually several weeks between updates.

Nobody knows. It's still not included in the 2024 Lightnings or Mach-Es.
