They put out manuals but can you actually buy parts? Will Tesla ship me a battery or motor? Can I have access to the software that I need to reprogram the computers for any replacement component?
they’ve come a long way from not letting you buy a hubcap but still not at the same level as other manufacturers. Although, the other guys are also moving in this direction. Repairs is their only way to continue to make money. Current right to repair laws are BS and still allow manufacturers to price gouge and put up road blocks. Look at Apple, they complied with the law but made it more expensive to make your own authorized repairs lol.
EVs are inherently different from ICE. I can understand how Tesla would be hesitant with a car that was repaired by a non tesla sanctioned and trained person using their supercharger network. I can see how it go south in a hurry. This would not only affect the car that was repaired but also their supercharger stations as well as anyone else that was nearby.

Sure! They have a site with the full parts catalog too. Just open up the app, put in a service request for "other" and list the part numbers you want.

they'll send you an invoice, you click "accept." In the app. Depending on the part you may need to pick it up from a service center.

Now to be honest, I've never ordered a motor or battery... but don't see why they wouldn't.

Possibly but while I value every dollar, these amounts are not really that big that I would ponder on, especially knowing the resale value, this one is going to be driven until it falls apart so it doesn’t make a huge difference to me anyway.

But I would be curious if you can show me a dealer sold - Ford gold certified with 2 extra years of warranty and full service coverage -on top of the original remaining 1.5 year warranty - job 2 - 2021 Mach E GT Performance - no deletions - 7k miles for “out the door” cash price of $46k today. I am not even saying $51k, given it’s been 5 months since I bought it, so let’s say a grand less each month given how bad the market has crashed lately.

And then I’ll agree with your assessment!
Well, you allowed 1k depreciation/mo. It’s valued by the market as 23000 now, per your post, so 5 months means anything over 28,000 was you overpaying.

Yeah... that's not what they're offering everyone

Just for kicks and giggles I figured I would check to see what CarGurus thinks about the price of my old MME with the same amount of miles and they apparently feel like it's dropped 3k in 15 days.

Sold my 23 premium the day after the first tesla cut. Fortunately still made out in the black. The writing was on the wall.

What writing is that? Never buy a Musk mobile? Who wants to be another guppy in a fish bowl? ;)

My car is worth the same to me as it was a year ago and will not be selling it anytime soon. Not like I thought that this one was an investment that would make me money and never depreciate. May be a different care/attitude when you pay cash for them, hold them for a long time and know what you have got for them at the end. Drive them until maintenance is such it no longer makes sense. Initial cost/10 years is the annual cost and just like the insurance it keeps going up. Hoping the bugs will finally get ironed out and this one will go for 15 years; time will tell. I think it may eventually go to be our second vehicle and make 15?

Sib drives an almost 18 year old accord. Got hit, most panels on left side. Car was still primo, low milage, worried insurance would write it off and give a few thousand. Nope. Geico is fully repairing it. Salience to this forum, were a 'low value' MME gets hit, so long as a good repair is done you still have your car.

Apparently, 2M people every year or 50x the number of people who want an MME.

No one in this thread has said they expect a vehicle to appreciate. I keep a vehicle for an average of 2.5 years. That's by choice. This thread is just informing those interested in buying a MME that it will depreciate faster than other EVs. That's all. If you want to keep it until it drops, good for you. Where's the harm in letting people know the facts behind the MME depreciation for those to which it matters?

I'm a road trip nerd too, but more in a "use a paper map" (yeah I'm a Boomer too, lol) kind of way as a plan of general direction and discover along the way.

Over the past 26 years or so I've accomplished numerous trips on our touring motorcycle that has a 220-mile fuel range, so using a vehicle with limited range is not new to me. Yet, even on a bike, fuel planning is not critical as it is in an EV.

But on such trips I have found the center of the North American continent, the center of the CONUS United States, the headwaters of the Potomac, Susquehanna, and Mississippi rivers (to name a few). None of those were planned destinations, just places found along the way. Once we found a farm in Oklahoma, devastated by a tornado or perhaps just a huge wind storm. The place was left intact from a weather event that happened multiple decades ago. A museum-quality life-size diorama left in its natural state, untouched by the modern age.

Such unplanned discoveries I would think are missed over concern of range and fuel availability roaming in an EV.

Just to make the point about cups of tea. :)
I hope that such spontaneous trips will become more and more feasible as charging stations spread across the US. Once upon a time, gas stations were just as scarce, but they obviously spread everywhere.

If a car with OK reviews suffers high depreciation that is good reason for it to move up a person's list of attractive used cars. Consumer Reports that as well as more than average repairs, it also notes very high customer satisfaction for the MME.
