I originally thought 22" wheels would look too big, but I'm very happy with my choice. They fit perfect and don't even seem like 22" wheels.
Yes, I will own up to this one. After looking at the wheels on the GT and the impact on mileage with aftermarket wheels, I sucked it up and bought the GTPE. Did not like writing that check for the extra money, but don't regret my decision. I like my wheels and I love the car.I'm going back through this whole thread from the start, and the "time traveling" aspect of people talking about their plans and setups right next to their updated bio is delightful (cc @MyLittlePony2022).
Hey Ross, so for a square setup, 275/40/20's would be your best bet. Can't go any wider in the front than 275's so you need to stick with that size for the rears also. You can run them on a 20"x9" wheel which is the narrowest you should go with the 275’s. A 20”x9.5” wheel would be a better fit for them though. The 275/40/20 size is the same diameter as your OEM tires so no issue with speedo or anything. If you were to go staggered yes you can go 285, 295, 305 and even 315's in the rear with up to a 10.5" wheel.
I haven’t gotten them yet but I am going with 20x9.5” wheels with 275/40-20s. I’m hoping all of the calculations are correct. Not much room for error at that size. LOL! ??
Hey mark, thanks for the reply! I remember when you were exploring different wheels back when I was still waiting on my car haha. Based on your thread from May I’d say 315 is a no go. I have 315 on my terminator, and I’m not interested in modifying the car in any way, just upgrading the wheels. You might have convinced me to go staggered, I was thinking square would give me some more longevity with the ability to rotate but the staggered look is obviously much better looking stance.
Be interested to see what your results are, 275 is still fat. I’d be concerned about the front with 275s though and what modifications would be needed
Overall I think 275’s would be your best bet. They look very good (much fatter than stock) you can rotate and no modifications necessary providing your front offsets are correct which should be around 31-34. That will keep the inside of the sidewall from rubbing on the inner fender skirt (unless you are full lock going over a large bump) and the outer sidewall about flush with the wheel lip molding. Of course the tire you get can make I big difference. Some have very flat sidewalls with no wheel protection while others are very rounded with a lot of protection. I can’t run 315’s in the rear unless I’m using PS4S’s. I’m running 275/40’s on the front right now and my car is a bit lower than stock.
