We have a Charge Point charger. Lately, the charge has quit after about 2 minutes, even though the battery is still at 50% or so. Opening the circuit breaker and then resetting it resets the charger and then it works for one charge. It's a new replacement for a charger that failed within the warranty period.
I think it's the charger but want to know if anyone else has had similar issues?

Take your car to another L2 charger to see if your problems are car or charger related.

Or if you have a Ford Mobile EVSE give it a try.

My charger said the car stopped the charger - when I went to investigate, it was because it was doing an update :) Afterwards I could charge normally again.

There is a safety switch in the handle. I had this exact experience this summer when the weather became extremely hot. The metal in the handle must have expanded / contracted a bit and made the switch sticky. Working it with de-ox sovled my problem.

My symptoms were similar to what you are describing, and Ford Pass would say "charge station fault". Not saying it's your issue, but if you don't have de-ox, you can at least try pressing the switch on your handle a couple dozen times, with some good force. In case it is sticky you might be able to feel it (you can usually hear it click on and off).

For a year I used the Ford mobile charger that came with my ‘22 MME Premium, then bought a Wallbox Pulsar Plus. Worked great for a few weeks then would cut out each time. Sent it back and am using the Ford mobile charger again. Any recs for a better L2 unit?

My CR1 recently stopped recognizing when any charger is plugged in. I wrote up the experience in a separate thread this week. Car is in the shop now (4 days total) but I haven't heard anything yet.

I have the exact same issue. Mine will stop charging after 2-3 minutes, then if I unplug it from the car, wait 20 seconds then plug back in, it'll start charging fine again and stay charging for as long as it takes to fill up the battery.

I've tested this with multiple chargers and what I've found is any charger with a rate over 7kwh will have this issue. Anything lower than 7kwh seems to work fine.

I've tested several times on my Emporia EVSE, if I lower it to 6kwh, I can charge for hours. If I go above 7kwh, it will charge the first charge for 2-3 minutes then stop. Then if I unplug it from the car and plug it back in, it will charge at the higher rate for as long as I want (it does throttle after some time but will continue to charge).

It happens with multiple chargers so I think it's not a charger issue but an issue with the MME. Either hardware or software issue.

If you get the station fault message, there’s probably something wrong with your EVSE. See if it changes after 6.6.0.

I had the exact same issue. My ChargePoint was set to 50A (around 9.4kwh). I never had a problem until this summer. The issue wouldn't occur on a fast charger even at much higher rates, this appears to only be with level 2 chargers. I would plug it in, it would charge for 2.5 minutes exactly then it would stop charging and the charge port would flash red/orange. ChargePoint sent me a replacement unit, it did the same thing. The workaround was to change the ChargePoint to 40A. It charged a lot slower but it worked.

I took it into the dealer and they ended up replacing the charge port. Since then I haven't had any issues charging at 50A on a level 2 charger.

Check with your local utility first and see if they offer something at a discounted price. I used my ford moble charger for eighteen months without issue, but finally got a juicebox 40 from GA power and $250 discount

I have this exact problem right now, and ChargePoint is sending me my third charger. I'm also convinced it's the car. Took it to the dealer and got a complete run around, have an appointment at another dealer Dec. 12

Loweing the charger to 40A let's me charge, but that's not a solution...

@Eraser Did your dealer have a 50A circuit to test on?
