6.2.1 also just installed on mine and I've been debating the the $600 / 3yr offer too because of the slow updates. Do you recall how long it took after your 6.2.1 update for the next one to install?

Thanks!
For me it was about a week between 6.2.1 and 6.3 but that was primarily because 6.2.1 installed the day before Thanksgiving. Since then I’ve gotten an update every other day on average. I’m on 6.6 as of yesterday.

Before subscribing at "special one-time discounted rate on a BlueCruise Connected Service plan - three (3) more years of service for just $600" I called Ford to ask if my 2021 Premium would ever upgrade to 1.2 or 1.3 (or if it is an empty promise for my car, like a frunk button). Ford said NO.

So, unless someone in this forum - which has proven much more helpful than Ford - tells me otherwise, I'm unlikely to send them $$ and more likely to get Comma.ai / OpenPilot (discussed in other threads).
I got the Frunk button on my Job 1 car last week. So things are still happening for Job 1 cars.

I’ve been stuck on 6.7 for three days now. So frustrating, you guys.

The person that you talked to was clueless. Not one bit surprised by that, unfortunately.
I agree with above statement. Whoever said NO was indeed clueless. I just got my frunk button installed in my MME Job 1 and is displayed in my FordPass app.
BC updates are coming soon according to the Power Up updates.

I'm talking about if there's an update that fixes something, and it's not getting picked up OTA, and the car is under warranty, I'd expect NOT to have to pay for getting someone to shove the update in if it's under warranty.

BUT at the same time I kinda expect the software update to not be the cluster it is. It's 2023 and these processors are not cutting edge by any means.

The way I see my car is this:
It's Docker from 6 years ago, all containers written by different groups in different places for different things. No one testing a thing they deploy because no one ever pulls the main branch and runs tests. They push the container up and call the job done. Then the cluster of a car gets an update, when the stars align. Problem surfaces. Problem reported to that container team, maybe. They might get around to fixing it, because everything is an enhancment to them, like not resetting the occupant alarm every time.. Couple more months pass, someone pushes and it all starts again.

The smoke test passes but there's zero feature testing happening, or even any sort of a regression test. OR there's someone that makes the decision 'eh they'll never notice the speedo is only on the right now, because it's too late to fix that now.'

My 13 yrs old Focus EV shits the bed randomly about it's off hours charge time, but at least it defaults to charge now. The 'fix'? Unplug the 12v to reboot Sync. (I used tokeep a 13mm wrench in the door just to do this every 6 to 8 weeks) How things havn't changed. Btw this Sync3 got 3, maybe 4 updates in it's lifetime. Not a useful feature ever added. What'd they add? A calendar. Because my car should know more than my phone I guess.
Actually OTA on cars is bleeding edge, sad but true.

As for paying for updates I have mixed feelings on this. Ford could improve the process and make it more like smartphones where you can go out and look for updates.

Hopefully sync 5 that was originally due to debut in 2024 models will address some of these issues but no guarantees. And those of us that have older cars are not getting this update because it's a software and hardware solution.

And for a Focus EV it would need to be a 2016 or newer to have sync 3. If it's older it actually has sync 2

I called the number listed on the offer and they transferred me to connected services. That person said I need new hardware if I wanted it. I didn't ask for names.

The trainer I met with recently assured me that all older models will be upgraded to 1.3 eventually sometime 2024. I did call the Ford Service hotline yesterday and the guy I spoke with said the strikes had and effect on the rollout date as they were shooting to have it all done by the end of the year originally. Now he was thinking closer to summer. He also had said that the 2022 models would start receiving updates next then the 2021 models. My wife has a 2021. She bugs me weekly about this stuff soI'll keep you posted if I hear anything from Ford.

Yup. Now I remember I actually thought I'd 'upgrade' it to 3 but didn't.

Sync 2 was Microsoft and terrible. On my 2017 Fusion PHEV the sync 3 charging times works fine. It even has a smartwatch app for Android

Yeah, I;m reminded it's Microsoft every time I get in the car I see the huge metal Microsoft SYNC placard that probably cost more than the development of said SINK.

Actually, the new Android software was supposed to be in 2023 model years. This was announced back in Feb 2021. So 2 years late. https://www.theverge.com/2021/2/1/22260176/ford-google-android-infotainment-os-2023

Rick again, trying to hold Ford to a timeline. There's always next yearS.

I see no possibility of Sync 5 addressing issues. New language, new model, new deployment, new developers, new clip art. Nope. Not gonna happen until they're ready to release Sink6. Without perpetual upgrade things don't get fixed. Sometimes they just all out dropped.

What feature did any of these bring? Minor version increases for minor module updates. Kinda misleading that we're 'getting close' lol.

Each one of these installed updated software to a module critical to moving to BC 1.3 software. If you want those details, feel free to look in their threads.

Call and talk to someone else. They’re just reading off a note card.

Hardware would be required if you didn’t have the 360 cameras and Bluecruise already.
I don't have co-pilot active (no extra cameras or eye-nanny) so no blue cruise for me. Co-pilot assist is not capable of blue cruise. If you only have the rear camera you can't do blue cruise.
