If you frequently travel the blessed roads that BC actually covers, it's possibly worth the $200/year... but it's worthless otherwise.

As for Nav... Apple and Google have proper map services that are always up to date without additional subscription charges. Just one of the reasons why I always use Apple CarPlay... and probably one of the reasons why some car manufacturers want to get rid of it.
Yep. And of course they get that money by advertising to you.

I have been using CarPlay with Apple maps almost exclusively for 2+ years and I don't recall ever seeing an advertisement in it. (unless you are referring to business names that happen to be shown on the map)

Nav in cars uses licensed maps and requires map updates.

Are you wanting your maps to be out of date and then pay for on demand map updates? Older, non connected cars are like that. My mom's 2011 Explorer you have to pay for the updated SD card, $150.
When paying over 50 000 dollars for a car, then no, I’m refusing to pay Ford to update their maps (which by the way took almost a year to update a new highway in my area). Those pocket money Ford could cover over the lifespan of the vehicle as a good gesture, especially after three rounds of failed HVBJB. It’s not like a computer software from a supplier where they have to rely solely on licensing and such, we have paid for a car upfront, which more than enough should cover 10-15 years of maps.

Yes? I think the vast majority of people would prefer to just stick with "outdated" maps that work 99.5% of the time. And this is mostly moot, since there are plenty of free nav options through AA and ACP.

I agree with you, but what car company (other than Tesla) does provide navigation map updates for free after a couple of years, even at $50k ?

I don't think ads need to be displayed in the app for your location data to be pretty valuable to Apple and Google. :)

Not sure, and I am actually fine with the maps not being updated, just fearing they will remove the NAV altogether like BC if not paying for it :/

As far as I know, you cannot pay to advertise on Apple Maps. Not sure about Google maps, but you cannot for Apple Maps.

Apple does pick businesses to show in the guides, but they don’t pay and are randomly selected.

Most of us carry the phone everywhere anyway. Unless you are turning off location data they could be tracking location date regardless of which nav you use.

If you are counting on Monroney labels being everything you need to know about cars, you’re going to have a bad time.

Monroney labels don’t include subscription costs. You paid for equipment attached to the vehicle, which is required to be listed.

Ford press release showing pricing of BlueCruise Subscription.

https://media.ford.com/content/ford...road-trips-bluecruise-hands-free-driving.html

You bought your car nearly a year later. A 10 second google search about your future $70k purchase would have revealed this was a subscription. You posted here inquiring about ground clearance before you purchased, so research is not outside your abilities. Ford never obscured that BlueCruise was a subscription add-on.
The press release you posted pertains to MY21 cars. Furthermore that press release doesn’t say anything about a subscription. The closest thing is this: “The BlueCruise Prep Kit contains the hardware required for this feature. Software for the feature will be available for purchase at a later date. BlueCruise functionality is expected in the third quarter of 2021. Separate payment for feature software is required to activate full functionality at that time.” [emphasis added] A payment is not a subscription.

But anyway, I purchased a 2022. I’ve not found anything from Ford pertaining to BC being a subscription for my MY22 car until after I completed the purchase. The fact that the nav is shown as a trial and BC is not is certainly misleading.

I've got a 2023 with BC1.3. It works great. But it's "her" car, and she won't use BC. So I won't be paying $2400 to renew for three years. Conversely, my Lightning doesn't have 1.3, and included BC for three years. I wish they'd get it updated so I get the 1.3 features that I love on the MachE!
1.3 comes to Lightnings soon. Mach Es get it first.
