At least for me. Just completed a trip, monitoring with CarScanner. No warming of battery approaching a DC fast charger, when set in the navigation, even set via Charge Assist. Nothing.

Interesting. However, it also didn't work when I used the old way, I think.

However, if what you say is correct (and I'm sure it is), what a cluster! How on earth does Ford put in a new "feature" and screws that up?

If the battery is too cold or the cabin heat load is too high, it won’t work either. This is why setting a departure time at the beginning of each day is important so battery+cabin start out somewhat warm.

Having to use Ford’s nav is a price too high. No preconditioning for me. I wish they would give us the option to use with other nav systems. It would be nice to charge quickly and move on.

I use ABRP on my phone. Wife has GoogleMaps running on her phone. I use Ford Navigation solely for the prewarming of the battery, and Charge Assist, although I'm finding that it has major issues, including showing incorrect prices, incorrect charging speeds, and chargers inaccessible that work fine. If the battery is not being prewarmed, then there is little reason to use Charge Assist.

Must be an experience having four people giving you directions (3 apps and a wife) ?

HA!

Not to mention her saying "BlueCruise is off, watch what you're doing"...

No, that wasn't the issue. Heat was set on 68, fan speed 1, and it was 40s.
Try again by turning off the cabin heater completely. The power should be transferred to heat the battery.

what OTA version are you on?

Just came back from a 'KC-Denver-KC' trip and was trying to use Ford Nav to set charging locations and use preconditioning. Here are my issues:
  1. The navigation is horrible. Having used Google Maps (android auto) for years, Ford Nav is very clunky.
  2. It was going to have me make 5-6 charging stops when in reality 4 would have been doable.
  3. Each stop had me charging to a max level of 50-60% which was very weird.
    • Having a hard time understanding the idea of being on a road trip and the DC charging stations (Electrify America) starting at ~120KW and then slowing down to 70-80KW. *Conspiracy Theory Alert* - Why the slow down? If it's about the wires getting hot, use larger wires. Seems like a money grab since the more time you're there, the more they can charge, especially after 80% when it drops to 30KW. Being on a road trip, I'm trying to charge up to 90% at least.
  4. When I decided to go to 80% on a charge, it would barely adjust the future locations.
  5. After going to 80% at an EA charger, I located a different DC charger through the Chargepoint app because the next location Ford suggested was a slow charger. However, I couldn't get the Ford Nav to locate it, so I arrived there without any pre-conditioning. Only got 30KW and took forever (at 11:30 at night)
Would it be too difficult to add a "pre-condition" button so I can turn it on when I want to set a particular location that isn't in the "Ford Charging Network"?

I’m sorry but we shouldn’t have to choose between cabin heating and battery reconditioning.

I've had this feature for about a year, and it worked fine prior to Charge Assist being implemented. I'm on 6.13. It appears the failure is due to the implementation of Charge Assist, which I attempted to use most times.

I totally agree. As I wrote in my other post, Ford completely failed in designing the MME for cold weather use.

My comment for him to try with the cabin heater off was so he could confirm if his car can still condition the battery.
