I just bought a certified pre owned 21 Mach e premium er. Unfortunately, the car was delivered from out of state and I didn’t have a chance to test drive but figured if it’s CPO would be good to go.

Lesson learned, had to take it to a local dealer today as lane centering hasn’t worked since I picked it up and my connected services and car doesn’t show blue cruise.

I talked to ford blue cruise line ahead of taking the car in. They seemed sure it sound like a failed blue cruise update had happened in the past and the dealer locally could just install it, but might take a couple passes to get there. They provided a line for the dealer which I handed over.

the dealer called me today and I’m at a loss. They are saying I need all sorts of wiring replaced and parts they are ordering. I can drive the car until it’s all ready but said it’s inhibiting lane centering and blue cruise. I couldn’t get paperwork as the team left by the time I picked up but will hear tomorrow am the full list of parts ordered.

has anyone heard of this or experienced it? I took it to a dealer who claims they deal with Mach e’s all the time but I’ve heard horror stories on here of dealers not understanding issues.

Do you mean the coax cables for the camera? That's a known issue that will inhibit LC.

I’ll know tomorrow when the service tech is back in.
The cameras all work fine I can see the front cameras and back cameras and the speed adjusting for cruise control works.

the two things not working is lane centering and blue cruise.

would the coax still be needed if my cameras are working? I haven’t gotten any camera errors while driving.

Thanks!

What’s the build date of the car? If it’s a Job 1, the free trial of BlueCruise would have expired a few days ago. Though, that’s likely not the issue with lane centering.

The camera for LC & BC does not provide visible images to the driver. The images you see are from the camera on the front of the car, just below the hood. The camera for the ADAS features is by the rearview mirror. I believe when the coax is failing it usually displays a message on the IPC and also sets DTCs. There are multiple threads regarding this issue and Ford has a TSB that details the repair process.

Is BlueCruise activated on your Ford.com account for this car?

It isn’t because it isn’t showing up in connected services. When I called connected services and blue cruise by ford they mentioned it sounded like the update failed previously and to bring it to the dealer to get the update done.

When I went to the dealer today they mentioned the out of state dealer I brought the certified pre owned had 2 records of attempting the blue cruise update and it failing. They just certified the car anyway and sold it without telling me.
Luckily it’s under warranty and I also have a 14 day buy back if I choose to execute it.

i love the car, so id prefer to keep it if they can get lane center and blue cruise working or do the buyback and find one that’s working properly.

what I’m confused about is the dealer made it sound like there was all these parts they need to order to get everything working.

When I’ve turned on cruise control it doesn’t give an error besides “blue cruise isn’t available” it doesn’t do lane centering, but it does recognize lanes and the cars ahead of me on the screen. It will nudge me if I go out of the lane. It just won’t center in the lane.

I do remember several reports a while back of cars being left in a state where lane centering stopped working after a botched BlueCruise update. Sounds like the dealer failed at applying the updates required for BC.

I’d agree but I’m perplexed as to why they are now ordering a bunch of parts unless they got an error I haven’t seen?

if they did they were fine giving me the car back and said it’s fine to drive until the parts come in.

I did reach a state during the initial blue cruise roll out for Job 1 vehicles where I had no lane centering and no more updates available in FDRS (failed IPC update). So it's possible it's just a software update needed. Also possible the ADAS camera cable is bad.. or it's possible it's both since it's a Job 1.

Is the below what you're experiencing? This gave me a driver monitor camera fault though when toggling lane centering. I also didn't see the faint eye nanny red led glow anymore.

Almost. I’m not getting any camera error when I engage adaptive cruise control with lane centering. It just doesn’t work. I still see the side boundaries and it slows based on the car ahead of me. But there’s no error about the camera not working and no blue bubble. If I let it lane center it just bounces me back and forth.

The service tech messaged me this morning and said: There is a technical service bulletin from ford to replace the IPMA coaxial cable, IPMA camera and update the module on serval modules inside the vehicle.

my concern is they’re doing this because of the bulletin but my car doesn’t need it to get the blue cruise update since I haven’t seen any camera errors on the screen.

and I’m experiencing lane centering issues and no blue cruise because the update has failed. instead of trying it again, they plan to now just replace things before they try it again.
