I see some people saying they have never used L3 DCFC. I want to know how that's possible.

Either you have never travelled further than your battery range in a single day or you had time to L2 charge for several hours during the long trip.

Do you just never travel outside your city, ever? Or do you use an ICE vehicle for your long trips?

MME GTPE is my semi-daily commuter car, use other ICE cars for longer trips. They're simply more comfortable Volvos for the long hauls that also handle the cold and snow better, and then also don't have to deal with sparse charging network (hopefully Tesla will help with that soon). And to really blow your mind, I'm still solely using the included travel charger after 2 years and 20k miles.

I seldomly go outside the range. The longest trips I’ve done were Seattle to Vancouver and back. No need to charge really. Sometimes I charge in Vancouver on L2 charger while we are doing our thing.

Yep, we have 2 cars and we do long trips in the other one.

In my first year of ownership I only fast charged out of curiosity to see how it worked.

Over the last year we moved house and I needed to use public charging for 3-4 weeks while the home got sorted out.

This is why I was happy to go with the standard range AWD setup with it’s 211 mile range.

Generally only on a road trip. Seattle metro has many Volta for a L2 (free of charge) but generally charge at home. I do subscribe to EA $7/mo plan and generally come out ahead. Luckily most EA here are still at .40kw/hr. Seeing some as high as .56.

I have only had my GTPE for 2 months so I have not taken a long trip in it yet. I charge at home to 85% and that will last me a week and still be over 20% under normal circumstances. I will need to try DCFC before I do decide to go on a trip that will require using one.

To never have charged with DCFC is risky, since you should make sure it works.

As to trips, some have other vehicles. But many are afraid. Maybe not too many here, but lots on FB and elsewhere.

We've done 3 or 4 trips to Florida, and one to ten states and 8 national parks. Plus north in our state, south to Indiana, one to Massachusetts.

If you choose not to, great for you. But ridiculous to be afraid of traveling with an EV.

Most people don't go on long road trips. Tons of data to back that up.

I have never used one. My wife’s Escape is for longer trips. More reliable chargers would change that.

I've not used it once so far in my year of ownership. I have an ICE car for longer roadtrips and honestly, I'm not a big road tripper myself. I just fly to a place and get a rental car.

Two years and never used one. There is actually only one pair of 50kW units within 125 miles. So driving long distance; although doable, was not something I was interested in. Also I normally haul bikes and or grandkids. My Mach is used almost exclusively around town. The state has added a few more chargers so I will most likely give the Anchorage run (350 miles) a go next summer. I will test it in town though to make sure it works first!

I drive the national average of 37 miles per day and am about to hit 10,000 mile mark. We have an L1 in the garage and a 24A L2 that my wife refers to as the supercharger....it is the fastest charger we have ever used. Needed to take a 700 mile trip earlier this year and simply used Enterprise for convenience.

Have DCFC'd less than a dozen times. Longer trips are in the RV.

Have done a couple trips where I drove the RV and the wife drove the Mach-E. Only 1 of those involved DCFC.

Have to say you can go a loong way in the RWD CA Rt1 on a road trip before needing a charge.

I've got 2 dogs and 2 teenagers. Long trips require a bigger vehicle. I have fast charged exactly once in 30k miles.
