If you have a Mach E and feel screwed by the price slash, call Ford, or don't. LOL

Honestly, these drops mostly just make up for the reduction in Tax credit. from $7,500 to $3,750 to 0. and the removal of features. Is it really not that much better of a deal. It doesn't feel like it to me. We bought over the summer at way less than MSRP and now get the tax credits.

Will say that the confusion from Job 1 to Job 2 2023 over the summer and fall was a disaster for dealers... how did Ford expect consumers to understand when the dealers did not even understand. Ford had a huge press release that they were dropping MSRP in early 2023. Then dealers had to try to sell existing cars on lots at older higher MSRP. They should have changed the stickers on all the cars at that point. Instead they offered rebates and mass confusion. No wonder why sales stagnated. and then to lose $7,500 rebate in 9 months. They had to reduce MSRP just to be equal.

Ford already did a goodwill payment for people that purchased right before the first big price drop. I was one of those people that got a goodwill payment and honestly I was very impressed by ford for doing that and not something I ever expected. Did you get one of those? If not you already benefited from the first price cut.

I totally get the other price drops are frustrating but remember the MachE no longer qualifies for the credit and it did last year. Some of this the price of being an early adopter, some is the weird financial bubble we’ve been in post-COVID, and some is just bad luck.

We are approaching our 1 year anniversary with our Mach E GTPE. Watching the price drops is making me sick. I totally understand that generally vehicles are poor investments. However, I certainly didn't expect the drastic depreciation on a Ford. Maserati, or the like, absolutely, but not Ford. I can buy a new GTPE for around 18K less than we paid for ours. And if I wanted to trade it in, with 5500 miles on it, I would probably take a 50% hit. I called Ford to see if they were doing anytihing for those of us who purchased at the higher price. While they do not have any plans of doing anything, the agent did tell me they were taking notes for the powers that be. He also said he was seeing several calls for the same reason. Maybe if enough of us call and complain something will happen. In the past year and a half we have spent around 300K on Ford vehicles. I had never owned a Ford until then. Not sure after this if I'll buy another one. I do understand prices tend to come down over time, especially on products with lots of tech, but this seems ridicules. If you want to call Ford, here is the number. (800) 392-3673

I don't feel screwed by MSRP reduction at all....

1. I am not planning on selling my MME

2. I got full $7500 tax credit on my 2021. The price reduction looks to be pretty much the amount the the 2024 models cannot get via Fed tax credit.

Customers, manufacturers, and the economy are being whipsawed by all of this. Even Tesla.

I just called to ask if they were doing anything for people who bought at the higher price
The answer is no. Demand for all types of vehicles is soft across the board. Demand for EVs is softer due to lower gas prices in much of the country. That’s how the market works, demand goes down, prices go down.

Not sure what you expect from Ford, the whole car market took a big downturn. I don’t know how active you are with car media and the forums and the like, but pretty much everyone was waiting for the hammer to drop with car prices over the last couple of years until it finally happened.

I’ll also say, it’s 2024 now, of course 2023s will be discounted heavily. It’s not just a Ford thing. Find a 2023 BMW or a 2023 Toyota still unsold in February 2024 and you will get a much better price on that vehicle than if you purchased it in February 2023. These are clearance prices.

a decade ago I lived through this already.
Leased a $42k Ford Focus EV. Dealer 'took' the $7500 tax credit off the top of the lease. Lease was $199 a month.
At the end of 3 years said $42k car had a $28k residual. I offered to buy it at $15k, because there were others locally for $11k and it was 'my' car that I lived with (with all it's short comings and oddities like the MME). They wouldn't budge.
I walked across the street bought 'my' car for $9k.
Looks like it tanked just as well as the MME a decade ago. Along with ALL leafs and other EV's that people dumped and the desire went out the window. (Tank the Model 3 mostly for this I think)
Ford killed the Focus EV in '17 5 years after launch.
I have since bought and sold another Focus as well in that time for $8k.

Like was mentioned, they did goodwill payments after price drops in the past.

But never for a car that’s 1 year old.

You’re getting sarcastic responses because you’re making an unreasonable request.

You bought a year ago. Even Walmart and Best Buy never gave price matches for more than 30 days.

Ford has 10 months of inventory of leftover 2023s to sell. They have to drop the price.

And also like mentioned, it was Elon who killed our resale values. If you want to complain to someone, try calling him. +1-888-518-3752

Your Mach-E value was going to tank regardless of the price cuts.

Or, put another way, price cuts didn't lead to your value tanking, tanking values (demand) led to price cuts.

Chicken or egg.

But in this case it was the chicken- Tesla price cuts that killed the resale on all used BEVs in addition to the sales numbers on anything “not Tesla.” So Ford has to follow suit to sell all their months of inventory.

Proof-

2022 Model Y sales- around 220k
2022 Mach E sales- around 40k

2023 Model Y- 394k
2023 Mach E- 40k

Nothing changed but the price.

I bought mine at possibly the worst time, January 22 (I moved to the US and needed to buy a car)

I had a friend that used to say “If it wasn’t for bad luck I would have no luck at all” ?

On the plus side I did get a 3.2% interest rate…
