Given they just pushed the plug in charge update to all the cars, do we know if there are any other adapters for sale now that one could get immediately?
I would very much like to know if anyone has an idea of who to contact at Ford about the PR issue they will have when people like me (and from posts there are a number of us) will get adapters that won’t work once we get to a station on a road trip because our cars (mine is a job2 2021) isn’t receiving updates. I will test near me but I can already see the “stranded because. ….. EVs are useless” headlines.

8 years ago I was paying $0.18/kwh, today it's $0.53 with possibility of that going to $0.60 in a month or two if the gov approves it.
Are you on PGE? They have an EV plan for overnight charging (.34/kwh). And that rate actually is good for midnight to 3pm.

I work from home, my wife works 5 miles away, so our annual mileage combined between all 3 of our cars is roughly 12k miles (includes road trips with the kids).
We do own two ICE vehicles, but those wont' help with our electricity consumption for the rest of the house :)

Our MME charging is only 1/2-1/3 of our overall utility use.

BTW gasoline is $6.50/gallon
I stand corrected, it's time to move! Gas is $3.25 and electricity is .13 here. I wouldn't be able to mow my 4 acre yard at those prices.

Yes on PGE with Solar on NEM 2. I've already contacted PGE and reviewed options, We are on the lowest cost option.

BTW PGE rates are not the same across their entire service area. Each region/city has different rates.

I have friends north of me in PGE territory that's at $0.36/kwh

Yes, the Tesla app is being used - you have to activate non Tesla charging and say that you already have the adapter in order to see the live Tesla SC map & location details.
is there an update to the tesla app? i have version 4.30.0-2221 and i don't see anywhere to indicate i have the adapter. or do you have to sign up for a non-tesla charging membership to see this?

When I clicked "Reserve your Fast Charging Adapter", it took me to "Connected Services", with no way to actually you know... reserve a fast charging adapter. The next 5 times I clicked it, I got the same result. On about the 6th try, an extra button showed up on top that allowed me to do the reservation.

If you don't see the link, try hammering the reload button I guess?

#18526 , July ETA. Dammit, I should have checked this forum when I first got to my desk!
Yeah, this process is gonna frost a lot of people that didn't find out in the first hour.

Ford probably would have been better off just giving existing owners like 2 weeks to confirm they wanted one to update their shipping info (no hurry), and then prioritize shipping by earliest VINs or purchase dates. Not this mad scramble that few realized would hit at 8am ET today. I know it's free, which is great, but still could have been implemented in a way that wasn't a blind Ticketmaster scramble.

Update your Tesla app. I had to update mine and that is when I was able to add my vehicle.

Ford EV Access to Superchargers

Starting 2/29 8am ET, Ford F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E retail customers become the first of any non-Tesla automaker to gain access to Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. and Canada.

The 15,000+ available Tesla Superchargers more than double customer access to reliable DC fast charging on the BlueOval Charge Network.

We’re saying thank you to our Ford EV customers by making the Fast Charging Adapter (NACS) available at no cost to new and existing customers enrolled in the BlueOval Charge Network through June 30, 2024. The Adapter is required to charge at upgraded Tesla Superchargers. You can reserve yours by visiting Ford.com/FastChargingAdapter

Ordering an Adapter
1. Head to ford.com/FastChargingAdapter to learn more and log in to FordPass. The Fast Charging Adapter Reservation will be the first tile within the Connected Service Home Page.
2. Click on the ‘Reserve your adapter at no cost’ button to start the ordering process
3. Your shipping information will be pre-populated based on your Ford Pass account, just verify that all the information is accurate, update if needed, and click ‘Reserve’.
4. And that’s it! From there you will get a confirmation screen with helpful information on a forthcoming automated over-the-air update and a link to our FAQ Hub.
5. Additionally, you will receive confirmation email with a personalized link to check the status of your reservation.

Customers who are not yet enrolled in BlueOval Charge Network will be prompted to enroll before ordering their fast charging adapter.

Ford Pro customers will be contacted this Spring via mail or a Ford Pro account manager with instruc&ons on how to order.

Locating and Activating Upgraded Superchargers
Ford customers can use the FordPass App, or in-vehicle SYNC 4 Charge Assist (soon to be 'Public Charging' App) to locate all chargers, including new Tesla Superchargers, just like before.

Integration to routing will come with a future over-the-air update.

In the future, Tesla Superchargers will be coming to:
  • Apple Maps EV Routing (with Apple CarPlay)
  • Google Maps EV Routing (with Android Auto)
  • Ford Connected Built-In Navigation

BlueOval Charge Network
The BlueOval Charge Network, North America’s largest public charging network offered by an automaker, is a “network of networks” that provides Ford EV drivers with easy access to a variety of charging providers without the need for multiple apps and memberships.

With the addition of Tesla Superchargers, the BlueOval Charge Network currently has more than 126,000 chargers, including more than 28,000 fast chargers, with more being added every week.

The network provides one seamless stored payment account through the FordPass App, or Charge Assist (soon to be “Public Charge” App) in the vehicle’s touchscreen, that eliminates the need for onsite credit card use. Once owners have created an account, they can then select, activate, and pay for charging by using the FordPass App's “View Chargers” functionality.

Optimizing the Charging Experience
1. Precondition the vehicle while charging whenever possible to optimize battery range in hot or cold environments.
2. Set Departure Times in the FordPass App or in-vehicle screen to automatically heat or cool your vehicle’s interior for when you need it, drawing energy while plugged in to help save your battery for the road and warm the battery when it is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
3. Turn cabin heat off while charging when possible and use heated seats and steering wheel (when equipped; not available on E-Transit) to reduce HVAC energy.
4. If snowing, remove all ice and snow from the vehicle before driving; try to keep driving speeds moderate and ensure tires are properly inflated.
5. When searching for chargers in the FordPass App, you can adjust your filters to make sure you’re searching for the charge station type that makes the most sense for your current need, whether it’s a Level 2 AC charger or Level 3 DC fast charger.

Can you use a Supercharger without the software update?
The main component of the sotware update is to enable Plug & Charge. You can manually initiate a charge if needed.

Does Ford have access to all Superchargers?
As of February 29, 2024, Ford has access to upgraded V3+ Tesla Superchargers (15,000+ across U.S. and Canada). Check FordPass or in-vehicle ‘Public Charging’ onscreen application (formerly the Charge Assist app) to see which Superchargers near you are available.

How do customers determine whether a Supercharger location is one where they can use their adapter?
Customers can use the FordPass app or the Charge Assist app on their vehicle’s SYNC touchscreen to find an upgraded Tesla Supercharger. Upgraded Superchargers will be labeled: Adapter Needed. Stations that are not compatible will not appear in the list of available Tesla Superchargers. We are currently working to add upgraded Superchargers to connected navigation. Ford Pro customers with Public Charge Management can use Charge Assist (Public Charging) through the in-vehicle touchscreen to locate an upgraded Tesla Supercharger.

Will Tesla Superchargers show up in Connected Navigation?
Upgraded Tesla Superchargers are coming to Connected Navigation later this year. The FordPass app or Public Charging app on your SYNC touchscreen can find and navigate customers to the compatible Tesla Superchargers.
