Thanks. Is there a way to tell via the Ford app or the Tesla app whether a particular charger is V1,2,3or4 before you get there?

In the Tesla app you can set your vehicle and it will filter automatically. And I believe in one of Ford's press releases/FAQs it states it will navigate you to compatible superchargers.

Basically, using either solution should guide you where you need to go.

Odd that Ford didn't give a notice, so it's first order first serve and not first EV owner first serve. There's going to be a lot of P. O. owners that don't follow forums.
Got mine! Thanks OP.

Jeez didn't know these are pushed back to July. I'll have to call in to change my mailing address if I end up moving before getting the adapter.

Has anyone found where they can check their order status from the app or website? Never got the email, but I have the order number.

I got it reserved as soon as I got up but I’m 90009908 and it says shipping in June. Too late for our road trip in June unless one of you early guys wants to loan theirs out?

The adapter will work on the V3 and V4 (250KW) chargers. The older V2 and V1 chargers are 150KW or less. So you don't want to use those anyway as the charging speed will be too slow.
lolwut? SR Mach-Es have a peak DCFC rate of only 115kW, ER cars are a little higher at 150kw (really about 160-170ish kw) but that’s peak which isn’t sustained for very long anyway. Our cars aren’t able to take advantage of charging stations that output anything beyond that. We’re not driving 800V EVs.

Anyway the real reason that we can’t use V1 and V2 superchargers is because those stations use CANbus for communication just like CHAdeMO whereas CCS uses PLC.

Aparently its the signalling in the v3 and v4 chargers that is compatible with CCS. So the way you can tell if its a v3 or above is that the DCFC is capable of 250KW.

What's the nacs adapter we can buy now if we need it before July? I saw one recommended in one of the threads, but I can't find it.

I have two adapters scheduled for May, hopefully Ford will make all happy (again!) by beating their estimates but happy to lend you one of mine should they arrive before your trip.

Essentially, access to superchargers increased the odds of finding a reliable charger to spend 45 minutes at. That’s it. Still a significant improvement than before. Except, well, the cable length, which will continue to be a very big problem when a Ford EV shows up at a busy V3 or older supercharger. And it’s a huge financial and logistical undertaking to replace all V3 and older supercharger cables with a cable that’s 6 feet longer.
Maybe they should be including a cable extension with the adapter.
