Just curious since your bio says your car was delivered in Oct of 21....do you have an RECENT experience with trying to buy a new Mach or EV ? This isn't 2021 .
Luckily it isn’t 2021 anymore. Things have definitely gotten better.

2021 buying a Mach E-
Reserve online with no clue what that even means, dealer knows nothing.

Order banks open up- try to figure out how to convert reservation to an order- dealer knows nothing.

Wait 4 months, hear nothing.

Get an estimated build date, no clue on delivery date, dealer knows nothing.

Car shows up! Hurray! Test drive car at 18% charge because dealer doesn’t know how to charge it.

Ask dealer about “Ford Options.” GM, GSM, and finance manager all give you blank stares and say “I don’t think we have that.”

Take delivery of car still at 18% charge. “We plugged it in all night, but I don’t think our charger works.”

Get email offering “free oil change” with your new car purchase.

And don’t even get me started on the PRICES in 2021……

So yeah…… I’m glad it’s not 2021 anymore. ?

two separate issue here:

The individual buying experience for EVs at any given dealer... Landmark Ford has been good to deal with... I'm happy to recommend them. But they are not in the same league as Tesla (two most recent new car buys) in terms of the buying experience.

Are dealerships as a whole obstructing EV sales... yeah, a significant number are, as are their national organizations. I agree that one of the factors is that EVs threaten their business model.

I read regularly on forums "nobody wants them" and "EV sales declines". On forums, ok... but in media with an editor I see the same thing and I do wonder how this passes. There will be another 30-40% increase YOY again in 2024... and yet their will be endless stories saying "decline" and "nobody wants them"...

Thank you . This was exactly my point . Ive seen hundreds of these stories . Ive had people tell me that and yet Lightning sales are up 93% and Mach sales are up 64%. Those numbers are pretty good DESPITE the dealer obstructions .

Girl who works out at my gym recently came in and was beaming and proudly announced she was getting a Cadillac Lyriq. My talking up the Mach must've worked cuz it caught me off guard . She was going that night to test drive and sign the paper work. She went to the dealer where she and her family had purchased their last FIVE Caddys. She said they couldn't even get a salesman to look up from their cell phones . After an hour of the dealer wasting their time and not even offering a first draft of a sales outline they left . The dealer wanted no part of selling them a car , A $100k car !
She brought an official offer sheet FROM Cadillac which the dealer laughed at .
Her and her husband are 50 with 4 driver aged kids . They will never go back to that dealer and were so pissed at how they were treated that they ordered a Tesla instead.
She's getting a Tesla but her face does not light up about it like it did for the Caddy.

Ah you totally misunderstood me.

I’m not (blanket statement) defending dealers.

I just don’t like when people (blanket statement) attack dealers.

If anything, I’m just speaking out against blanket statements.

You had a bad dealer experience. So did I. But I don’t blame the model or dealers as a whole for my individual experience.

I blame the individuals who made that experience bad.

I spent 8 years working for a local newspaper. Maybe it’s because of that that I hate headlines that are dishonest. “Auto dealerships are lying to you!” As a headline makes it seem like ALL are doing this. They aren’t. It’s sensationalist and dishonest.

Were they shopping in another country? There's no such thing as a $100k Lyriq.

'Dealers' are comprised of a sales division and a service division. I believe the service division makes the money. Not much to service on an EV....so they sell ICE....maybe.

$81k or $100k what's a few bucks among friends ?
She said it was $100k .Who am I to confront her .They would've added every option available so maybe that gets you to the century mark.

It doesn’t.

But it does make for a better “Pretty Woman” story.

Maybe THIS is where she got the price . Don't know. Don't care. Price is irrelevant to the overall situation/story

The problem is that nothing else about the tale that this woman told you makes any sense. Dealers may be unhappy about the prospect of selling EVs in general, but once a car hits their lot they want to sell it as quickly as possible. They only have a short grace period before they start paying flooring costs. Plus salespeople only get paid when they sell cars. They also could not care less about the service department. As long as they get their commission check and move one vehicle closer to their monthly unit bonus, they don't care what they're selling.

So all your cars have 2021 dates . Did YOU go out RECENTLY and try to trade YOUR EV or try to BUY a new EV ? Are YOU speaking from experience ?
I and others HAVE tried and have run into brick walls . Dealers adding hundreds of dollars of useless crap like first aid kits and lug locks and "interior upgrades" which appears to be no more than ArmorAll on the steering wheel.
Have YOU seen $69,000 MSRPs and a $75000 price tag on a car that Ford just knocked $8-11000 off of .YOU see anyone promoting 8.6% interest rates at the same time that Ford has 0-1.9%.YOU have a dealer expect over MSRP on "curtesy cars" that have been sitting on the lot for over 200 days ? Have YOU seen that same dealer raise his price FOUR times the day AFTER Ford dropped the latest price reduction ?

Dealers aren’t the problem, any more so than for any cars. Charging is the problem.
