My 21 GT spent 5 weeks at the dealer to replace a faulty pump in the "transmission" as well as do the HVBJB recall, charge socket replacement, etc. Today my wife was out and about in the car and I got an alert on the Ford app for "HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY WARNING. An electrical system fault was detected. Your vehicle may shut down without warning. Stop your vehicle as soon as safely possible, shift to P, switch your vehicle off and attempt to restart it. If the fault remains, contact an authorized vehicle as soon as possible."

My wife parked, went into a store, and came back and restarted. She then got a STOP SAFELY NOW warning and said a "red light went on." I told her to drive the 3 miles home. When I restarted it, there was no warning, no lights, nothing. I went and drove around the neighborhood and started it/stopped it several times and all was normal.

What to do? Call the dealer(who I do not like)? Wait and see? Pack it with TNT and be done with it?

Any helpful hints appreciated.

Do you have an OBD-2 code reader? If so, use it to pull the Diagnostic Test Codes (DTCs). If not, you should probably get one. If operation appears normal and the DTCs present are harmless, your car is probably fine. SVS and SSN warnings have appeared for various reasons (such as a module not communicating when polled). Powering the car down and back up after a brief wait usually solves those issues. Nobody can tell you what’s going on without the DTCs that are present, though. ??

March ‘21 car outside warranty? Ouch!

Have you reported anything of this sort before warranty expired you could use as a line in the sign to use as to when the fault potentially first presented symptoms?

Otherwise, looks like you’re on the hook for the cost of putting it right.

A good dealer’s probably the best bet because they’ll have or should have good product knowledge.

Otherwise, are there any independent EV specialist near you? They’re cropping up everywhere these days.

The car was just at the dealer getting the recall done. I am sure whatever is going on is related and would also be covered.

Make a call to the dealership to report the issue and have it checked out (I know you don't want to do that but that is what Ford will ask) and open a case with BEV team to log the issue to escalate and track. The parts are covered by a warranty and it is also possible things didn't get cleared correctly the first time.

Find a new dealer, that one doesn't know jack or doesn't want your business. Codes are stored in the modules and sent to the cloud which they can access

Sorry if I was unclear. I did find my OBD-II reader and my reader said there were no faults stored, not the dealer.

I’d be very surprised if they were outside the 100k mile warranty already (certainly possible though). The HVBJB is covered under the battery warranty.

If there are no stored DTCs, the car likely saw that there truly was no issue and self-cleared. I would just keep the OBD-2 reader in the car and pull codes as soon as it posts something on the dash. ?‍♂?

Many people have reported false SVS or SSN warnings after doing a software update. This might (or might not) be the root of your car’s error messages that have cleared. ??

I think you should do the most reasonable option you listed, blow it up with TNT!
Or just give it to me, I'll take that lemon off your hands for FREE!!

Ford is buying LEMON back. It's been in and out of the Ford dealer more times than I can count. So today is the day. Their buy back program seems to be great. I really like the car and may get a newer model?

the HV drivetrain isn't out of warranty unless the car is 8yr+ or 100k+. My FFE's battery cracked at 6 yrs and 42k. Replaced without question. The things that are now out of warranty are listed in the owners manual.

I’m wondering also since it was recalled if Ford would actually even pushback if it was past the 100k mark. You’d probably have to get the BEV team involved, but I’m sure they would replace it at no case inevitably . When I went through the process after my car sat at the dealer for over a month, they even extended my basic warranty to 75k (basically gave me the fordprotect plan for free).

My dealer was extremely incompetent though. They told me my entire battery needed replaced when it was clearly just the HVBJB lol. I also sat for over a week with no rental
