I've had the free connected navigation for the past three years but my free ride just expired. Im not completely clear on what I have lost yet. It appears I can't plan or program any trips from within the FordPass app now. I know I lose traffic and weather. Still trying to figure out if I can do route planning and accurate charging station info for those rare long trips. I'm thinking I may just hold out and pay the $80 when and if I head out on a long trip but may try without it to see what I really miss
I just lost my 'connected navigation' as well.... and I'm pretty pissed off at @Ford Motor Company about it.

As far as I can tell.... you lose two things:

1. you won't get 'live' weather, traffic, or charge station location updates. This I can live without since I have auto-update turned off because I don't trust Power-up OTAs not to introduce bugs along with 'features'. I'm NOT happy that new roads won't show up if Nav updates are tied to PowerUp updates since I have lots of new development and new roads popping up all the time in my area.

2. you can't use voice Nav command to speak destination, and have to stop the car to type in destinations.... THIS really pisses me off since I'm not asking for new data or feature, I'd just like to continue using voice command to Navigate to existing locations while I am rolling on the highway.

One of the things I'm curious about: Apple Maps and Google Maps both integrate fairly well with the Mach-E's nav, and now include special features for navigating to chargers. I wonder if anyone's tested yet to see if using Apple Maps/Google Maps to navigate to a charger will trigger preconditioning?

can you 'speak' your destination address to googleMaps ?

does this require going thru AndroidAuto to setup ?

Did not pay for it. Haven't missed it yet. I use Android Auto for everything and never even think about the built in. Public charging seems to still work which was my only worry.
I have been using Nav, just because it was easy.... but now that I can't speak in my destination while rolling, I'd consider AndroidAuto if you can use the voice command to speak destination address while driving.

Does this feature work after native 'nav connected service' is locked ?

Mine just expired and I paid the $80 to renew it. With all the new chargers being built out there, and up to date system is nice. Both Apple and Android are not very good in this area.

How much did the upgrade cost?
especially bad unfortunately, I ordered the GT, it came in and I picked it up on December 27 23, the next week Ford announced the first of the big cuts to price and it's been steadily downhill ever since, so to save $80 cost me tens of thousands! ;)

I got fed up with the holdup with BlueCruise 1.4 that I didn’t renew anything. I let everything expire.

A road by my house that has been done for 4 years now has simply disappeared from the map. Not only I probably don’t get updates , it reverted back to some original version. I don’t remember ever not seeing the road on the map before.

I’m getting a Rivian ?

I typically use Google Maps simply because I am usually on Android Auto for other features. However, when I I'm going somewhere I'm not familiar with, I like the native navigation because I can get a written list of turn-by-turn directions on the screen. I cannot seem to get this list of turn-by-turn directions using Google Maps - it just verbally tells you as the turn comes up. Does anyone know how to get that written list? My Ford nav trial ends tomorrow.

At least with ios with carplay, google maps will display the map in the center console and the turn-by-turn directions display on the phone itself if you open the maps app on the phone. Don't think I have ever gotten such on the console screen, as that would not follow some of the rules that apple carplay has about minimizing distractions.

Apple maps will ad chargers but fro what I have seen its not very good. It doesn't provide any options for different chargers, nor does it give any info about the charger. I experimented with it tonight planning a trip from Long Island to Ticonderoga NY and it seems now to suddenly direct to the EVolve charging system which I had never heard of prior to this evening, and they are nothing but level 2 chargers it seems.
Use the app “a better route planner” as needed

I almost exclusively use Apple Maps, and occasionally Google Maps. But my car is mainly for commuting, so I don’t really need charging info 99 percent of the time. Honestly, with the limiting/neutering of the power of the 21-23 GTPE that it seems Ford will never resolve, even though I love BC and the connected Nav might be useful to me some day, when that stuff lapses, I’m not going to renew, kind of like a boycott of Ford.

until OTA updates (with release notes and 'service pack' batch updates to most current stable build) are available, tested and stable, I feel that Nav updates and features should be free, and hopefully not require PowerUp OTA to update map data.

Even if Nav data is not updated, the 'voice commands' for addresses should work regardless.

are you listening @Ford Motor Company ?

The turn-by-turn will only display on my phone if I'm not in Android Auto. This feature I use pretty routinely, so it could cause me to sign up for connected nav. Thanks for the info.

Are you saying it's going to revert to as built?

I also wonder if it effects the Adaptive cruise control. A lot of speed sections in my area have changed and The adaptive cruise control has developed different speed without reading signs in some areas.
