June is almost here and I expect one of two things: My adapter ships some time in June -or- I get a letter from Ford telling me that my estimated ship date has been delayed. ?‍♂?

EDIT: delayed again… ??

Anyone who thinks that June's adapters are shipping in June, I have a bridge for sale. We'll be lucky if April, and maybe some of May's adapters, ship in June.

I am in the latter (April/May) group. I suspect I will be getting that letter. My car got delayed twice, so why not my adapter? ??

Guess that's what happens when you fire the entire Supercharger team. Wonder if this affects delivery of adapters for Ford and Rivian since they already have the software access.
While I'm sure that contributed too, the adapter delays were happening well before the layoffs. Seems like Ford only got one batch from Tesla so far, that probably numbered <500. Other than some mistake in the 8000's, the highest US order number I saw getting one was around 200. That was April 5. The Tesla layoffs were April 30.

Since the adapters shipped to customers from Dearborn, that means Tesla ships them in bulk to Ford first. Figure some weeks for that and for Ford to process them for customer shipment, meaning they probably got that batch from Tesla in March. And nothing since. Similar story for Rivian, just a few weeks behind us.

No doubt the layoffs have piled on, but Tesla had serious problems providing adapters well before the layoffs.

That's exactly what I've been saying. Probably 50-50 for the April/May people actually getting ours in June. Maybe worse than that now that June is nearly here without an update.

Everyone with a June or later original date is surely in even bigger limbo. They didn't even bother trying to estimate new dates for them yet. They're at the mercy of Tesla.

If you read the article, Volvo never replied and GM actually said they are still on schedule for spring delivery. None have issued a press release and Polestar’s last release of this topic said mid-2024 for Tesla Supercharger access so the one Polestar quote just stated the company line.

I don’t think many here would be surprised if there is a delay in adding access but I don’t find this article is the smoking gun it purports to be.

edit: typo

GM didn't say that. They said "later this year", THEN retracted that after getting rebuked by someone.

Every story, every delay is good news for A2Z! That's certainly why I ordered mine (received it in three weeks).

Yep. Likely a conflict between what's really happening and what they're ready to officially announce yet. Especially since they'll likely want to update their customers first with a new expected timeline, that they're just as up in the air about as we are (at the mercy of Tesla). You don't want to announce something to the press when the last thing you told your customers is still "Spring 2024".

There's also a difference between when the switch gets flipped for access with *an* adapter, and when they can expect the official adapter. The article doesn't do a very good job of making that distinction.
