2024 ER AWD 0-60 drops to 4.1s (from 4.8s)!

Apparently it wasn’t just the GT that got a torque boost.

Dropped from 4.8 to 4.1 seconds for the ER AWD models.

Supposedly better wiring and a new front motor. Not sure why Ford buried this lead.

Unfortunately for the U.K. it will probably result in even higher insurance premiums. At this stage I would forgo even higher acceleration for better efficiency.

That’s months after you could order one and even after they were on the road.

It seems it was buried enough that I hadn’t seen it mentioned here until yesterday.

Should be front page news for the Mach E as that’s a significant reduction in 0-60.

Not sure I agree with that theory for a few reasons-

1. The Premium is a much higher volume vehicle in terms of sales

2. the GT probably isn’t any more profitable as it doesn’t cost much more

3. You could buy a premium 4 months before a GT

My guess? It’s for the same reason they delayed launching the 2024 GT- they wanted to deplete some of the leftover 2023 inventory first.

Did you see the MSRP difference between the Premium AWD ER vs GT? It's about $2200. For that, you get Magneride suspension, sport seats, more hp/torque, 20" wheels. That's a deal!

The insurance premium difference I was quoted between both models was significant. Just something to keep in mind as well.

Did you check with other companies as well? Some owners said theirs did not go up much from their previous cars.

They may not care about the number, but more what it represents (more power and acceleration).

Hard to say if it’s “most people,” but I would say that a freaking ton of people have paid thousands of extra dollars ever since cars started offering more powerful engine options to upgrade to the one with a faster 0-60 time.

To know if it’s “most people,” would just have to compare base engine sales with more powerful engine sales.

But I would say it’s the one in the middle that usually seems to be the most popular. And for the Mach E that would be the ER AWD. Which just so happens to have gotten faster. ?
