does ford plug and charge work with this adapter? I'm guessing it doesn't? In which case the tesla user account would be helpful for the discount
It does work. I have used it with Plug & Charge and it bills you for the charge through the Blue Oval Charge Network account.

What it DOES NOT do (no adapter does) is identify if you used up for Tesla’s membership rate ($12.99/month) which gets you discount rates when charging. To take advantage of a lower rate you have to use the Tesla app to pay because it doesn’t know your car’s VIN … so it wont know that you paid the $12.99 month). If you’re doing a road-trip and join the plan to get a better rate, you’d probably want to turn Plug & Charge OFF.

These adapters aren’t really “smart”. They are basically wiring input pins to output pins … with the exception that they have a temperature sensor that will stop the charge (I assume this means they disconnect the “proximity pilot” which is one of the small low-voltage pins on the connector) which would cause the charging to stop.

Yes, it does - flawlessly in my limited experience. No need to download the Tesla app or create a Tesla account. Just “Plug and Charge” ?

However, if you don't have the software update and Plug & Charge certificate, you can still download the app and charge.

You can also download the app and pay $13/month to get a discount of about 25%.

No need to do this, you just have to initiate the charge via the app first.
I agree with @TheVirtualTim if I'm trying to get the discount at an EA DCFC. I have found that P&C sometimes takes over and charges the higher rate, even though I told the app to start the charger.

I agree with @geftsnowball if I'm trying to get the discount rate at a Tesla Supercharger. Having charged at least 30 times at Superchargers, I've yet to have P&C override the discount when starting the charge session from the app.

Same - every time I use the Tesla app to initiate the charge, I always get the discounted rate.

Wish Ford would integrate P&C and Tesla membership to save me 20 seconds of time...

The thing is that using P&C uses Ford as the payment processor. Using the Tesla app uses Tesla as the payment processor. The discount deal is with Tesla, not Ford (same thing goes for EA Pass+). ?‍♂?

Yep, start the charge in the Tesla app before plugging in. I think it gives you about 2 minutes to plug in before it times out.

I'm not sure, but that might also speed up initiatation. When I do it that way, the charge starts working almost immediately after plugging in (maybe 10 seconds).

I've been reading the recent comments about Plug & Charge for Tesla Superchargers. How do I know if I can use P&C when I get to a Supercharger? Back in the old version of FordPass, my Tesla certificate never got a check mark -- it was showing as "pending" for over six weeks. How I can see the certificate on the new FordPass? I see that Plug and Charge is "on" but I can't find reference to the Tesla certificate anywhere. So do I just go up to a Supercharger and plug in and wait to see if anything happens?

Over Memorial Day weekend I used the Tesla app to activate my charge sessions, but I would prefer the simplicity of the Ford P&C.

Go into your Ford account - Connected Services - Blue Oval Charge Network.

Then look at the bottom and make sure you have an active credit card on file.

Thanks. I do have a valid card on file, but I can't see anything on this site to show if my Tesla certificate is valid so I can automatically start charging without needing the Tesla app. I guess all I can do is go to a Supercharger and try it. I'm waiting for a new A2Z adapter to arrive soon and will try it then.

I'm in the same boat, my Tesla certificate never loaded correctly in Plug&Charge. I used to be able to see if it was there or not in the old FordPass app, but now I'm stuck with the new one that won't show that detail. Ford is trying to get my certificate pushed back out to my account again.

At first I was disappointed that I didn't have it, but I'm realizing it's not that big of a deal. The only time I DCFC is on road trips. And all of our road trips are long (1800+ miles). The only time I'm likely to use a Supercharger is when I'm likely to use it multiple times, where it makes it worth buying a month of the Tesla discount for $12.99. Gotta activate with the Tesla app (not P&C) to use the discount, so having the Tesla certificate in P&C isn't that advantageous to me.

Plus I don't have my adapter yet anyway (I borrowed one for our 6400 trip last month).

Be nice if we could use a discount plan with P&C, but not holding my breath. I wouldn't be surprised if Tesla comes up with their own Autocharge feature (like EVgo's) for non-Teslas before Ford offers a discount plan for everyone.

I just received an email that my adapter shipped today. Order #1050.
Cool. Be curious to see other confirmations.

I just checked my FedEx account, but nothing there. #1922.
