After washing my wife's 22 MME GTPE, I applied my favorite ceramic spray sealant, Armour Detail Supply Ceramic Sealant, and my favorite tire dressing, Griot's Garage Ceramic Tire Dressing. In case anyone is looking for these types of products, I highly recommend them.

The Armour Detail Supply Ceramic Sealant provides the most gloss I have seen from any ceramic spray sealant, and I have tried at least a dozen of them. It comes closest to rivaling the gloss provided by a true ceramic coating.

And after having tried lots of different tire dressings, Griot's Garage Ceramic Tire Dressing is my favorite. The product is very thick, so it is easy to control as you apply it to the tire. It spreads evenly and quickly and provides a really nice satin finish. It's water-based (I do not like solvent-based tire dressings) and the ceramic content makes it last longer.

Here are a couple pics of my MME after applying both:

Joe, how does that ceramic spray compare to the Gyeon one you’ve written about previously? Or is this more comparable to TEC582 or Extreme Topper (both of which I use now after you recommended them ?).

Thanks for your reply.

I think you are referring to my previous post about Gyeon Cancoat Evo. IMO Cancoat Evo is considered a "light" ceramic coating and will last about 12 to 16 months. So it is more durable than any ceramic spray sealant, including Armour DS Ceramic Spray, which I am guessing will last 5 or 6 months. Armour DS makes a true ceramic coating called Armour Quartz Coating, with a durability of at least 3 years.

Even though Cancoat Evo provides longer lasting protection than the ceramic spray, there are a couple of negatives to Cancoat Evo. First, it smells very "chemically" and is not pleasant to breathe in. I wonder if it is safe to use, breathing in those fumes. And although it is one of the easiest to apply ceramic coatings (just wipe on and wipe off, no dwell time is needed), if you apply it outside like I do, you need to wait an hour and then apply Gyeon's own ceramic spray Cure on top of the Cancoat. This is to prevent water spots in case the car gets wet within 24 hours of application. Finally, just like any ceramic coating, if you accidentally leave a high spot, you have to polish it off. Armour DS Ceramic Spray is much easier to work with, smells great, is water-based, and is more forgiving if you leave a high spot. But you do have to reapply it once every 6 months.

I would say that TEC 582 and Xtreme Solutions Topper are more similar to another Armour DS supply product called Amplify. Amplify is Armour DS's ceramic detail spray. Amplify leaves a bit of ceramic protection behind, just like TEC 582 and Topper, but not as much as the Ceramic Sealant. The sealant has a much higher concentration of Si02 in it. You can use Amplify to give your car a boost of gloss in between applications of the sealant, or as a drying aid after a weekly wash, just like you would with TEC 582 or Topper.

Here is a link to Amplify on the Armour DS website if you want to learn about it:

I don't know anything about these ceramic sprays... can they be used safely on glass? How about on matte black? (Most waxes will cause matte black to turn gray.)

Can other products (such as wax) be used on top of the ceramic layer?

You can use the ceramic spray sealant on pretty much any hard exterior surface of the car. That includes glass. In fact, when applied to the windshield, when it rains and you are going at least 35 mph, the water will bead completely off. No need to use your windshield wipers.

Yes, you can apply it to matt black plastic. I used to use Collinite carnauba waxes. But one of the reasons I started using ceramic sealants instead is that, with the Collinite wax, you had to either tape off the black trim or just take care not to get the wax on the black trim. With the ceramic spray wax, not only will the ceramic sealant not stain the black trim, it helps to keep it black and protect it.

No, it is not advisable to put a wax on top of the ceramic sealant for a couple reasons. First, because the ceramic sealant is so good at repelling chemicals and contaminants, the wax would not really adhere and would probably degrade after a couple washes. Second, the wax could have some sort of negative impact on the ceramic sealant's performance.

Instead of wax, you can apply two layers of the ceramic spray sealant, as long as you wait at least one hour between applications. Or you can use Armour DS's Amplify (their ceramic detail spray) as needed to give your sealant a boost. Their ceramic sealant and Amplify contain similar ingredients and are designed to work well together. I personally use Amplify as a drying aid after my weekly rinseless washes.

Torque Detail ceramic paint sealer spray is my go to on the painted areas. I use Chemical Guys products for the rest of the vehicle and yes they have a product for the glass roof, windshield and windows that works well.

I don't know anything about paint protection for airplanes. I know that Chemical Guys sells a synthetic paint sealant that was "originally developed for protecting airplane paint" called Jet Seal. But I do not recommend this product. I tried Jet Seal and was not that impressed with it.

If I owned an airplane, I would probably contact the manufacturer and ask them what paint protection sealants and products they would recommend.

Alternatively you can go to the Armour Detail Supply website and use the Chat function to ask them if their product is safe to use on planes. I used the chat function to ask them if their sealant is safe to apply to PPF and they responded very quickly.

I used the Gyeon one on my windshield, that was a mistake. While it helps repel water spots I can't seem to use Stoner glass cleaner and paper towels on it anymore, always leaves streaks and feels sticky. Lucky me I only put it on all the glass lol.

18 months later my Gyeon coating is still kicking and looking great.

Sorry to hear that.

Just curious, which Gyeon product did you use on your windshield? Was it their ceramic sealant Cure or was it one of their ceramic coatings?

I’d used the can coat, but I also used too much of it.

I might try this armour detail supply sealant. First I'll need to find a product to dissolve the wax layers I already have on the car. I really don't feel like doing another round of clay+polish so soon.
