The Ford Family has controlling votes in the corporation. I think that's an unlikely scenario. Then again, who would have thought that Boeing would buy McDonell-Douglas, allow MD to run the combined company, and destroy the Commercial Airplane division's reputation? It would not surprise me if Ford eventually bought or merged with Tesla. But Elon could not be part of any such deal.

Tesla was a better company when their CEO wasn't paying much attention to it.I am still dumbfounded that Tesla shelved the reportedly production-ready Model 2. Hopefully Ford's startup will put all this new talent to good use. I think a sub $35K BEV could be huge success.
The homely, oft-recalled, and obsolete Bolt nonetheless sold like hotcakes late in its life because it was accessible to average buyers looking for a competent commuter vehicle.
