I found this information about locking a charge station.

How do I lock and unlock my Ford charge station?
You can lock or unlock your Ford charge station using the FordPass®* App to ensure others are not using your station without your permission. This feature is only available on the Ford Connected Charge Station.

It says that This feature is only available on the Ford Connected Charge Station.

WoW !

Basically, Ford provides this feature for the Mach-E, but they did not allow the locking feature for all other chargers.

It is so sad.....

Not really sure what is sad about this. Ford can integrate a lock mechanism to their proprietary charge station. Other companies would need to integrate their own lock mechanism.

Consider the situation where a MME or F150 Lightning installs the Ford Connected Charge Station on the outside of their garage. Logically I would want the ability to prevent someone walking by my house from removing the charger.

Other electric vehicles can lock the connector while charging at L2 charging stations. However, in Ford's case, they only provide a locking feature for DC fast charging. Do you understand what is disappointing about this? When you charge your vehicle at L2 charging stations outside of your home, your car's connector can be unplugged by others at any time.

So, if this is a feature of the CHARGER, how do you expect Ford to implement it on other chargers made by other companies? Do you expect Ford can wave a magic wand and it will be implemented by Emporia, Charge Point, Enphase, United Chargers, Tesla, Eviqo, Autel, Wallbox, and the hundred other companies on Amazon?

Wait, are you complaining it’s only a feature of the Mach E, because I don’t see that in the instructions. Where does it say this feature doesn’t apply to the Lightning or eTransit?

?????????

What is so sad is that this forum has become such a whine fest.

So how is Ford supposed to enable locking an EVConnect L2, i.e. J1772, charger if EVConnect has not integrated a lock? Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the situation.

It seems like there's a misunderstanding. I'm saying that most other companies' electric vehicles can lock the connector automatically during Level 2 charging, but Ford doesn't offer that feature at Level 2. It's not an issue with the charging station.

This is a feature of the FCCS (Webasto-made) and it to prevent uninvited use if you happen to install it outdoors. It has nothing to do with the car.

There is no locking of the charge connector. They are merely preventing charger use without app access. No locking to the vehicle.

My Autel can be setup to require using an rfid card to activate it, similar to what's described here.

So did you completely misunderstand the features or are we all just misunderstanding what you mis-wrote?

So sad.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with that point. But we're all confused as to what that has to do with the Ford Connected Charge Station?

I think the OP means that the MachE should also lock the J1772 connector to the vehicle port when L2 charging to prevent removal of charger. I agree that when the vehicle is locked it should prevent the charger from being removed.

Ummm... All that the "locking" feature for the FCCS does is enable or disable the EVSE. That's it. It is not a mechanical or physical lock. It's purely an on/off switch to prevent anyone from using your FCCS. It has zero to do with the MME. If you want to use the EVSE once it's been "locked," you need to "unlock" it before plugging it into your car. ?‍♂?

That’s why when I bought my car they recommended getting that one so they gave me about 600 off on it so I got it. I can lock mine or share it.
