Oh look, wonder when they'll look at the logs and remove BC1.3+ again. I'm sorry for anyone in '23 right now.

go to fordpass app > settings > update details to see which update was the culprit.

Reposting from Dan Gearhart from MachE facebook group on a potential solution:

Update 2:
The updated that caused the issue was:
24-PU0301-BLM-PE
After 5 roadside assistance attempts to get my car to the dealership (RSA kept sending the same company that didn’t have the equipment), I took matters into my own hands.
1) drained the 12v battery by basically sending the lock and unlock command from the key fob over and over keeping the computer awake.
2) once the 12v battery was drained, I was able to pop the frunk using the bumper jumpers
3) took the frunk apart and disconnected the 12v battery for 30min to make sure that there was no residual juice in the system (probably could have skipped this)
4) connected the battery and jumped it using the connection points recommended in the user manual
5) immediately opened the door and started the car while the 12v jump pack was still connected.
6) disconnected the jump pack and drove directly to the dealership (12 miles away)
7) had to jump the car while at the dealership because it didn’t charge enough. Drove the car back home but leaving it on for an hour.
—Keeping the window down tonight to make sure I can get in again.
I’ll update again if there are more issues.
The roadside issue is the exact same issue I'm having right now... been trying to get it towed for 7 hrs now.... and it's still stuck in my garage...?

the one cited in the post aboveis not the bc 1.3 it's 24-PU0301-BLM-PE which addresses security and locking. but we don't know if it's the ota causing the issue (I think that's doubtful) or that it's just discharging 12v enough to disable lock/unlock but not enough to work the frunk open procedure

Have you thought about trying to do what the guy did in the post you commented, on? He apparently activated the lock/unlock on the fob to discharge the battery sufficiently to then open the frunk with the external 12v source. I mean it might be worth a try, once in you can charge the 12v.

Yeah I don't think it's actually BC 1.3, rather it'd end up being and excuse to halt roll out, for like another year or so.

After waiting all day, the last tow guy that came by was able to pop the door open (hopefully without breaking anything) but jumping the 12v didn't do anything, so ended up having it towed in the end.

Which door did they pop open and how did they do it?

Front I would assume with a ballon and a pullbar on the inside handle. Same way they got into my FFE years ago. (Sorry Gary, most cars just arn't hard to get into)

There have been MANY reports like this over the last 2 weeks. Probably 6-7 of them. While I realize you won't respond to this thread or make any statement about the issue, can you PLEASE report the trend to your supervisor(s)?

This is a serious concern and I'd like to think that Ford would want to get ahead of the issue...
short term, if your '23 is still running, I would suggest you turn auto-update OFF until we all hear from @Ford Motor Company that the problem module update has been identified, and patch release is available for OTA install when you turn auto-update back on.

Or perhaps go the FDRS route. I manually updated the modules while a power supply was hooked up directly to the car, eliminating any issue with the battery draining during an update. :D

(This is assuming that an OTA is the cause...)

Correct and it was the driver door.

They should have removed the 12V terminal to reset everything, waited 5 minutes, then put it back on and jump started it. I bet it would be totally back to normal after doing that.

Lee, do you have a sense of how long one of the 12v batteries can set around as stock before installation and still be considered a fresh, healthy battery?
Several years if they are charged every once in a while. But most that sit on the shelf are not, so I'd say you want one that's less than one year from manufacture. I have a spare that's about two years old now and it still tests brand new because it gets charged every 6 months.

Its funny on the other Ford forums like Maverick there's a Ford guy showing up everywhere making comment and asking for DMs when there's a problem bot NO Ford rep to be found on the Mach E forum.

Decided that I wanted a different look for my truck without sacrificing mileage . Found some Drag rim DR-67's that were on a 2019 Ford Edge with Bridgestone Bilzzak snow tires . They came with TPMS sensors installed and all the lug nuts.

Found another set of Suburu OEM tires that had 300 miles on them . Yokohama 225/60/18 Avid GT s35's. The owner put on wild peaks because he lived on a dirt road .

Had Discount Tire do all the dirty work . I've got about $700 total invested with my full set of OEM 17's and a set of almost new 255/55/18 snows to sell.

I think it looks great and the ride is smoother . Hope the mileage and traction are as good as the OEM conti's .
