Don’t rely on the ideology of a gasser aka Petro heads. They don’t know what it feels to not pump $100 into their tank every week and you won’t convince them that they don’t need to go 400 miles every day Autoparts & Big O are convincing them. They need lifetime parts ie alternator, starter water, pumps, hoses clamps they was born that way.

Another FYI for the haters, ICE vehicles have been polluting the planet for over a hundred years. It will take EV’s longer than that to catch up, since almost 100% is recyclable now.
That’s an interesting standard…

Retired. I'd say it was a mid life crisis, but not many people live to 140.

There are definitely some wackos out there, but for the overwhelming majority of car owners, it doesn't matter much.

I get questions, but I do not get malice.

Another “us vs them” thread……

That always works to sway opinions…. ?
The clue is in the label on the can:

Ev community must stick together. The gassers are sick in the head

Recovering ICE-ager here. I heard that nickname and kinda like it. I thought I would share my story. I do not nor have ever owned an EV but am planning to buy a Mach-E soon (hopefully). Until a couple months ago, I never would have considered an EV. I drive a hybrid CR-V and it has provided me with a great balance between comfort, fuel economy and range, but almost nothing in the way of performance. I had purchased a 1990 Mustang 5.0L LX when I graduated college and traded it in when I found out my wife was pregnant. Have not owned a performance car since. But now that my daughter is turning 30 this year, I feel I’m long overdue for a return to fast cars. So a couple months ago I decided to test drive a new Mustang GT. It was nice and fast, everything I remembered and more. But I’ve been driving SUVs for so long, the Mustang just felt so confining. So after I the test drive, I asked if I could also test drive a Mach-E. And that was it. Something in my head clicked and I had to have it. Mostly because of the performance and partly because it bears the Mustang logo. Once everything clicked, I began to realize that the car is very well suited for me. I work from home so I have no daily commute and have other cars I can take for road trips if needed. I’m not sure I’m interested in any other EVs but maybe once I’ve owned my Mach-E for a while, that too will change.
It’s funny because one of my old drag racing buddies has been telling me that I need another fast car. So I told him I was looking at the Mach-E and he had the same response so many others have mentioned in this thread. He started telling me all the reasons I shouldn’t get one. One of the things he told me was that I will be replacing the tires way more often. And I said “do you remember how often I was replacing tires on my old Mustang?” I remember joking with him how I had a monthly car note, insurance note, gasoline note, and a tire note. That sure won’t scare me away.
I think most of them are just used to seeing things they way they have always been with ICE vehicles and have a hard time imagining things will be any better. Too many of them look at EVs through their political lenses and allow others to think for them.

Well, in the UK, I never now experience queues at the charger not because there’s no demand but the infrastructure, I think, is ahead of demand as it should be for a growing thing like EV take up.

ICE age man still (mis)informs me as if it’s a matter of fact “the infrastructure’s just not there”.

I happen to think there’s never been a better time to go EV.

Only hope increase in infrastructure supply keeps going.
I am still an ICE man but as you say its none EV owners who claim the infrastructure isnt there, never had an issue myself even 300 mile trips.
A tiny tiny bit of planning means charging is no issue, less so than trying to find 99RON thats for sure!

I have two issues with EV's at the moment though
1) The cost of them at the moment but that will come down over time
2) EV public DC charging rates, ridiculous at the moment. 70p-89p kWh!! I tend to aim for Tesla ones now if i need to charge as they are so much cheaper. 99% I charge at home so not a huge problem but for take up of people who cant have home/work cheap charging thats a real hurdle.

Hopefully things will only get better with more chargers which hopefully will mean more competition and lower public charging rates. Fingers crossed

I expected to get trashed by all the EV people who blindly go their marry way believing these vehicles are saving the environment. If you want an EV that's fine but don't feel like your doing anything more than not buying gasoline that just shows you refuse to do the research.
So, you've looked into the environmental impact that drilling for oil, extracting it from the ground, transporting it to a refinery, refining it, and then transporting that refined product to a place where the consumer can purchase it and put it into their car and then burn it? At least with a battery, it can be recharged thousands of times from carbon-free electricity sources.

Are they saving the environment? Maybe. Maybe not. But they certainly have less of a negative impact on the environment than just burning lots of oil constantly.

How many times will the gassers willingly buy their vehicle over and over again and parts hoses belts pumps, sensors, big old hire people to disparage EV’s the gas is vehicles. They have to take it to the shop to guess what’s wrong and to fix what’s wrong they gotta takeoff hoses pumps sensors fans on the side of the road be gone Gassers

Personally I think that there is an issue when people think they are better than others because of what they chose to drive. I have both and use both and I can assure you my ICE rig is way more comfortable to drive at -30F. Likewise hauling 6 grandchildren or several bicycles. My daily driver; though, is my Mach. Sometimes I wonder if the gasser pushback is just due to some EV drivers attitudes.
Nope, definitely not. I live in an area (western Maine) where there are virtually no EV, my dad's will be the first in our neighborhood and one of 3 in this wider area of 10,000 people. But anti-EV sentiment is extreme, trying to get an outlet for charging and electricians are trying to talk him out of EVs! Despite the fact that he was an electrical engineer (who also bought a '66 Mustang as his first new car), he's very old school Mainer but most everyone in northern New England (friends and family included) thinks EVs are a bunch of Chinese-invasion, California liberal crap.

You’re bang on, I think, re cost of new EVs.

I think the ruling classes have been led by the motor trade and allowed to sell cars that shouldn’t cost more to produce at too high a price.

The budget end of the car market shouldn’t be near £30k for a Vauxhall Corsa EV.

I’m torn on the kWh price of DCFC charging, though.

I feel like it’s expensive by comparison with my 12.5p/kWh off peak or even the over 20p/kWh day rate and should be outraged.

However, as a mid to high mileage user needing to DCFC quite a lot I feel a real benefit in the expansion of the infrastructure and the investment that must require so see that as a public service and just can’t get too excited or outraged about it and don’t loose too much sleep over it.
