I’m super surprised they ended up doing it. Didn’t musk come out and say they weren’t going to launch a new car with sub 300 miles range?

That guy has to have the fastest, cheapest, longest range, and more seats than anything on the market. The dude just needs to take a nap.

I don't ever expect to yell at my car to open the trunk. nav and music, yes, because that's the fastest way to do those things... but the trunk? that just makes you a dork, taking the time to day "Hey Ford, open the trunk" or whatever when there's an easily reached button.
No easy button or switch for the tailgate when in the driver’s seat. Open through the main screen layers or your phone. And I hope the fob. No physical switch is a disappointment

There is a lot of talk on this thread hoping deficiencies in the MME can be attributed to pre-production models. For example. Slow screens. Poor voice commands. Slow charging curves. Poor navigation results.

Can anyone explain why these issues would exist in the cars going around to dealer road shows or in cars provided to journalists, but potentially have been addressed in production units now that we are past OKTB?

In any other new to market car I would understand. But the MME is OTA update capable. These problems seem to be software not hardware issues. If Ford has corrected these issues for the coming production models and installed the improved software in them, why aren’t those improvements being sent out through OTA to the dozens (?) of pre-production units out there? Particularly the review units sent to journalists like Tommy and Kyle? Wouldn’t Ford want to put its best foot forward?

I don't think there's any evidence that Ford's OTA infrastructure is up and running yet - no journalist has recorded getting an update anyway.

It's possible those media cars *are* out of date, and that the OTA infrastructure isn't ready/activated, or that the "fixed" software just isn't ready yet but will be in the coming days.

It's also possible that it's just a lot of us wishfully thinking that things will be different by the time we buy our own cars. :p

I agree you have no evidence.

...does anyone? I've watched like every review of the Mach-E I've seen on YouTube and nobody's shown the car getting an update. Admittedly, I don't care for trucks, so I haven't watched '21 F-150 reviews to see if the other FNV2 vehicle has gotten updates yet.

I'm not saying any of those options are correct, just that they're all plausible given the lack of information on SW updates, it's not like Ford publishes a public software changelog or roadmap.

When you get your purchase agreement, read it carefully, and report back. Thanks.

Cold fingers are in issue with touchscreens, hope that it is not too extreme and obvious. Some reviewers praise the touchscreen, just doesn,t seem standard across
I don't know...in most videos I've seen of the Mach E (and I've seen I think all of them??) the touchscreen seems to have a certain jankiness/lag to it. Straight Pipes mentioned the same thing, too. I don't know if a software update can fix it, either...seems like a RAM problem.

There's a SW changelog in it? I'm not sure what you're getting at. Since I'm a month away probably from buying, since my car hasn't been built yet, wanna give a hint?

It's hard to judge from videos, but agreed that what I have seen in videos the screen does not seem very responsive. I'm hoping OTAs will include performance improvements to the underlying code. I really hope it isn't HW limited.

How long have some of you all been waiting? Some true patience of unprecedented levels on this page
A lot of us have been waiting a little over a year.

I’m super surprised they ended up doing it. Didn’t musk come out and say they weren’t going to launch a new car with sub 300 miles range?
Yup, her sure did. He said the smaller battery would give less than a 250 mile range in the Model Y, which he didn't think was acceptable. But here we are. I have a strong suspicion the lower priced Mach-E models may have played a roll in that decision.

Enjoyed the video, and it further increased my conviction for getting the Mach E. I have ordered the exact same model\configuration. I was happy to hear him say that the SR is more than enough for regular driving, which is what I intend on doing. This is my first EV and so many reviews are range, range, range that I was kind of getting nervous about not ponying up for the bigger battery.

All the criticisms from the video I already had accepted in as things I'm OK with being inferior to Tesla. This is already way more than I would ever spend on a car, so the cost savings of Mach E Vs Tesla really help tip the scales.

Someone may check my math but here is how I have it penciled in before taxes (CA buyer)

MSRP Premium SR AWD$51,200.00
Incentives-$2,500.00
Xplan-$800.00
California Fuel-$1,500.00
CA EV-$2,000.00
Fed EV-$7,500.00
TOTAL$36,900.00

Build date scheduled next week!
I posted a similar spreadsheet in the California forum. Think there are a few minor differences.

Wishing you luck! Come on Ford! For the love of god can we get these things out of parking lots and into peoples driveways?? How long have some of you all been waiting? Some true patience of unprecedented levels on this page
I placed my order 10 minutes after launch on 11/17/19 . . . so, yeah, it's been a very patient wait.
