Why can't they just issue a recall and let the dealers manually update it my vehicle? Or just let me do it myself like the good ol days.

People say you can do it yourself. If you’ve got a windows laptop and a FDRS license and some sort of cable and the courage to not break anything. Why can't they just issue a recall and let the dealers manually update it my vehicle? Or just let me do it myself like the good ol days.
Yes, I have done it using FDRS and some specific configuration settings using ForScan. If you review the threads about FDRS, you can find information about how to do it.
That’s awesome. Unfortunate that you need to go into ForScan too though.Yes, I have done it using FDRS and some specific configuration settings using ForScan. If you review the threads about FDRS, you can find information about how to do it.
BTW, my MME is a 2021 Job 2 Premium RWD with standard battery.
Really? I see it from a different perspective. I would say "Fortunately you can go through FORScan" instead of "unfortunately you have to go through FORScan". It's what has given many of us the avenue to provide for ourselves what Ford cannot. That’s awesome. Unfortunate that you need to go into ForScan too though.
I just meant it’s unfortunate you have to use FDRS and Forscan. It would be better if you just did the updates in FDRS and then everything worked. I’m all for Forscan.Really? That isn't correct. I've regularly updated my car and have still gotten OTAs. For example, I had all updates in my car, then they did the DSP update or whatever the "priority audio" update was a few months ago and I received that the day it started going out OTA.And then every other update you ever want to have, you no longer are in an OTA line.

It doesn't remove wherever you are in the random OTA queue. It'll still ping your car, see you already have it fully updated, and move on. But if you ever stop doing FDRS updates, you can just wait for OTAs again.
I have said this for a while. They'll really stop bothering soon, if they havn't already. No one wants to maintain yet another list of growing issues and work unless theres something to get out of it (read: money, only money). Now that the 21's are 'done' they'll probably push 1.3's roll out to most (because I don't think they'll come close to 75% of 22's ever getting 1.3 for one reason or another) and put a plug in that OTA spigot by the end of next year.Well, if you've got a 2021 job 1
In fact, I would not be surprised if they stop sending OTAs at all to out of warranty cars for that reason.
Why would that happen? I expect they should run fine for many years with a stable set of current software and zero future updates. You know, like cars have done for more than a century.I just hope someone down the road figures out a way to get the files for a FAUX-TA in the future or these cars will become recyclable material before they hit ~6 years old.
yes, I have.
