The MME behaves like an iPhone on wheels since it’s always connected to the IoT. That’s the Internet of Things.
If I want, I can turn my iPhone off by holding the power button and swiping the off switch on the screen.
Is there anyway to do the same to my MME and if not, should there be?

In short, not really. Yes, you can turn off Connected Services. GPS still tracks the vehicle. If that's your viewpoint, then you shouldn't buy any modern vehicle.

Other than disconnecting the 12V battery, there is no way to completely turn the car off. It remains in a semi-sleep mode most of the time, a deep sleep after a while. If you are concerned with it accessing the internet, you can disable all connected services and disable OTA updates, but it will still report some data to Ford. ?‍♂?

Honestly I have doubts that the iPhone is actually off when you turn it off. Since iOS 15, you are able to track the location of the iPhone even if the phone is off (if you configure this functionality in the Find My settings). And if that functionality works when the phone is “off”, there are likely other things that are happening when it’s off.

With what viewpoint should I not buy any modern vehicle? I got a little lost in the span of two posts.

All modern vehicles communicate with the cloud, including features that only work with that communication. If you're worried about big brother, then you should buy a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis. And not own a modern cellphone. And don't buy a new TV, or most other appliances.

Lol, that's hysterical. So if I turn my phone off to prevent broadcasting my information, or limit the GPS function from using Wi-Fi networks for accuracy, or if I use the manual slider to block my built-in laptop cam, or if I put my fob in a faraday box... You think I should become a Luddite?!?
No man, you got it all wrong, I'm an engineer. If you don't manage your tech, it will manage you. Don't be a sheeple.
And yes, the MME should absolutely have an off switch, preferably a hardwired one that actually cuts electricity. Phones should have the same thing for their microphones btw.

Disconnecting the 12V battery is the equivalent of off. If you need a hard reboot, disconnect the 12V and then reconnect after a few minutes.

All cars with a remote keyfob have a sleep mode and so are nver truly "off" if they were truly "off" then your remote keyfob wouldn't work when you pressed the button. You need to get a car where you unlock it by inserting the key in the lock. Even then, the radio is fed by the 12v battery when "off" to keep the radio stations stored, so no car built in the last 20 years is truly "off". Just don't worry about it.

Christ! Don’t tell that to the 12V battery paranoids, they’ll be burying their iPhones 6ft down in lead boxes?

If you wrap the whole car in aluminum foil I think it will accomplish what you’re looking for.

May be easier to just wrap your head in foil though. ?‍♂
I was going to suggest an 3XL Faraday Bag!

Engineer a 12v cut off switch in the Frunk. Don't latch the hood after you shut it off though, lol.

Or disconnect the TCU. You'll loose up to date nav, BlueCruise and any remote control.
