"To gain immediate access, owners of electric Chevy, Cadillac, and GMC vehicles will need to purchase “GM approved” Tesla adapters through each brand’s smartphone app for $225. Future GM vehicles will come with Tesla’s charging port natively installed."

It also sounds like if you have 2 GM vehicles from different brands, you must buy an adapter through each company's app. What a ripoff!

I own a GM EV. As of today I can go into my app and activate Tesla charging. Whether I buy the adapter from GM or get it somewhere else doesn't matter.
Whew!

Interesting approach. You buy the adapter through GM and they activate your account?
I wonder if this is fall out from GM turning off all OTAs last year. Buy adapter, they turn OTAs back on and update the car?

It also is clear that GM is using different adapters for different brands.

Maybe I missed it, where do you see this info?

I saw the article mentioned the following, " GM says it plans on sourcing its NACS-approved adapters from multiple suppliers. "

Wouldn't that still be the same adapter we all have or are in the process just manufactured by someone else?

So my sister just got a blazer EV. I'm trying to figure out if she needs to order one through her Chevy app or if she can get the lectron one that is on sale at the moment

A far more complete and reliable explanation can be found here:

It looks like she can buy whatever adapter she wants but uses her app to set up authorization.

This is good news. Will hopefully cut down on the number of Bolts at Superchargers.
"Chevy Bolt owners will need to visit their dealers for a software update to enable Supercharger access."

They said "may look different" or similar words.

So I reached out and got a real quick response. Typhon pro does work
