Did a drive recently where I got to use BC 1.3 with lane change more than one exit.

- The slow down on curves is poor. It slows down, then 2 seconds later accelerates.

- The feature that offers a lane change after slowing for the car in front of me is so much later than I would tolerate as to be useless for me.

- Lane change is too timid. You're in the center lane, want to pass. Hit blinker, and while it thinks the driver in the left lane accelerates and BC chickens out.

- Only useful lane change I found is moving back into center lane, and lane change to left when no one is around.

There has got to be some 2021 Mach-E owners that chose FDRS over continuous frustration.
FDRS is great and we have other Ford vehicles that benefit from having FDRS...

We'll be enjoying BC 1.3 until 02/2025 when our options lease comes to an end thanks to FDRS. My wife likes her Mach-E though so we may have to make room for her FE and the next car on her bucket list.

Agree - BC 1.3 is not all that coming from 1.2.

Still disconnects way more than 1.2.

Lane change takes FOREVER to complete and cancels most of the time in traffic at high speeds.

1.5 is not a feature I want - especially if it moves you into a lane that is heavily worn / potholed.

What a different ownership experience. ?

So you suffered the forum angst, while keeping her FE "up to date".
She just drove and enjoyed.
Enough so that she might just keep it?

Nicely done!

This feature should come to all model years. I have BC 1.3 on my '22, and it already has the logic to perform lane changes because it prompts you to make a lane change if it detects faster moving traffic in another lane.

I think the reason they might not be talking about specific models or years could be one of two reasons. One, the 21 MY might have proved too difficult to update OTA. Or two, there may be another EV that ford is getting ready to announce a new car or a major refresh coming to one of their existing EVs.

Those are not mutually exclusive.

I'm lucky my wife loves cars and racing (especially off-road) but the small issues like no OTA updates since May is not a big issue. I think her biggest complaint was losing her favorite stations on SiriusXM and that's been fixed for a while now...

How can you tell which version of Blue Cruise you have?

Does BC 1.4 actually exist? Has anyone got it? Or did Ford just announce 1.4 then skip to 1.5?

The only implementations of 1.4 I know of are some prototype installments on Lightnings (Ford internal) and a limited number of early access Mach Es that received in via OTA before Ford stopped deploying it.

Ford was using the term "1.4" when the BC software stack was dropped into the F150 FDRS library. That was back at the turn of the new year. (2024)

I don't know what the build #'s were for the IPMA/PSCM and those files, but I'm sure they are documented on the Gen14 F150 forum.

Still waiting for something more than a Frankenstein BC 1.0.5 that is marginally better a lane centering and disengages 5% fewer times on a 210 mile drive.

It looks like it's still Sync 4, which means it will still have the same hardware. MY26 should be the NACS and Android Automotive transition, which also means new infotainment hardware. The Phoenix system will have a newer SOC that will be faster, the question is will it be fast enough? From what I've heard new GM vehicles with Android Automotive are having performance issues, and Ford does love to undersize the SOC compute power with the software they have run on it.
Test drove a one of them new Nautilus just the other day, and while it’s not iPhone-fast, I’d say feels noticeably fast compared to any other infotainment I’ve tried, smoother overall than my Mustang Mach E. First time I thought this cars infotainment pretty good, almost like my phone. And I swore off of Android Automotive for a long time for many reasons (still prefer CarPlay overall, but for speed, no more).

Could be that test driving an infotainment is very different from actually using one in day to day life, though I tried everything I could think of, including playing YouTube on it. Never tried one in a GM, though, but if Nautilus is where Ford’s going, I think we’ll be fine.

Two things I can’t stand are

1. the all-touch, menu-based HVAC controls (gimme dat big ol multifunction knob and a persistent stack - not row, STACK of buttons from the Mustang Mach E and I’m good)

2. the insanely long boot animation that happens when you don’t have one fob around. seriously, that part of the demo was bad. I’m talking waiting for almost a full minute for the animation to complete, pressing the start button again after it times out, and waiting again before it finally presents you with the backup passcode screen. Really? Even my Mustang Mach E presents the backup passcode screen faster, and that’s not to say is fast either. Something’s definitely off here.

other than that though, I don’t think speed will be an issue as far as infotainment goes, unless Ford decides to put a cheaper processor on Ford vehicles because is not a Lincoln.
