  • When I bought my 2021 MME, I received one FOB and I decided to set-up my phone for the second key. That didn’t work so well. The phone has its own updates and the car has its own updates and there isn’t any cooperation between the two. So, I bought a second FOB. Ford decided that the phone used as a key had its problems, so they issued a second FOB and, in my case, sent me a check returning what I spent. Since then I don’t rely on the phone because the FOB doesn’t have updates.
  • I always use 1-pedal because once you get used to it, you’ll consider it a great option. I can go on a shopping trip and return without using the friction brakes. In a panic stop, when you get off the accelerator, the car brakes before you foot hits the brake pedal.
  • I used the Ford supplied cable with a 50-amp breaker and my car charged 20 miles per hour. I then added a Grizzl-E and went to 35 plus miles per hour with the same breaker and new receptacle.
All modes use regen as has been stated many times.

Ford Mobile Charger is 32amps, the Grizzl-E plug in would be 40amps, i.e. 25% faster. 20 would become 25. If you have a hardwired charger, 20 would become 30.

And I have been driving 2PD and 3PD for over 40 years so it's a muscle memory effect and can't teach a new dog new tricks....
This old dog often reaches for the shifter and pushes on a nonexistent 3rd pedal. ???

Nice to see I'm not the only one...
Since I mostly drive clutchless, I really only look for that pedal at a stop. That doesn’t stop me from reaching for the shifter and sometimes using the brake and accelerator pedals together when I am driving. ??

Hi. I just got my new MME and I've read through the forums and a number of Google searches but have the following questions. Any help is appreciated!

1) I set up the Phone as a key (I'm guessing that is what everyone here is shortcutting as PAAK) and every 2 minutes I get a notification that my phone is connected or phone is trying to connect. I have a Samsung S 21. Is that normal? It's so annoying that I might just disconnect the phone completely from the car. If it's not normal, any suggestions?

2) Does using the 1 pedal driving return any significant energy to the battery? Just curious.

3) I charged the car at home using a Level 2 charger and the FordPass app said I got 9 kw/hr. Is that what I should generally be getting.
the charge is hardwired to 60 AMP.

Thanks again and I look forward to conversing with you all!
Congratulations on your Mach-E, Michael! We hope you enjoy your new ride and appreciate you being part of the community.

I now refer to my manual Jetta wagon as "3PD".

Just a slight nitpick here... That should read "go on a shopping trip and return without using the friction brakes brake pedal".

1PD lift-up uses regen first and then the friction brakes for the final 3 MPH or so to do the final stop and hold the car in place. But the brake pedal does the exact same thing (unless you smash it to do a hard stop that exceeds max regen).
I was under the impression that Ford uses a similar system as GM in that they use reverse torque, aka run the electric motor in reverse, to provide the last bit of stopping when regen won't suffice in 1PD mode.

I could be wrong on the below 3 MPH part, but I do remember the transition at that point being a little rough in the early months until they got it fine-tuned with a software update. It was assumed that was due to blending/shifting from regen to friction.

I have another question. The ambient light over the center console is pretty bright. Is there any way to turn it down? Also, I was suprised that the ambient lights that you can change are really only in the floor wells. Can barely see them! ;)

I would think you would feel/hear the ABS pump cycling if it had to apply the friction brakes below 3 MPH. I can think of a couple of ways to test it 1) with a thermal imaging camera attached to the side of the car pointed at the front brake calipers and looking for the rotors heating up or 2) look for the right PIDs in CarScanner to see if the ABS pump is being activated to trigger the friction brakes, and then record a session that monitors those PIDs.

It's actually a very smooth operation. I can't feel the ABS firing at all (probably because there's no rotational speed differential on any of the wheels). I know my friction brakes are working, especially at really light pedal pressures because at the really light pedal pressures my brakes make noise as the car is coming to a stop. If I'm more aggressive on the pedal they are silent. ??

Everyone always points out that you get the same amount of regen but there’s one caveat, you can’t be aggressive on the brake.
With 1PD there’s no question you are getting max regen if you never touched the brake pedal. It’s easy to get used to it and be consistent without thinking about it. Using 2PD unless you watch the brake meter like a hawk you’ll probably not end up as consistent.
Just try it and see, I’ve been on 1PD since I got the car and have zero issues going back and forth between 2PD cars. Your brain just knows.
