Ford to begin shipping Lectron NACS adapter to customers

Just saw this from State of Charge.

Ford will now be shipping the Lectron CCS1 to NACS adapter to customers.

I wonder why the OEMs don't seem to like A2Z.

ETA: I tried to find a Ford release on this, but the best I have so far I got from Mach-E VLog, and that is a listing on the adapter on the Ford site (currently showing as sold out)

GM is using Lectron's adapter for part of their fulfillment. They can't do that if Tesla doesn't give the ok. Apparently Tesla hasn't done that for A2Z.

Both Lectron and A2Z state clearly on their websites that 3rd party adapters are not authorized. Lectron doesn't say they make one of the approved adapters provided by a car manufacturer, but we know they do. GM has shipped them, now Ford. They can't do that if Tesla doesn't say yes.

That doesn't mean that Tesla has any issue with A2Z's adapter, and they haven't authorized Lectron to sell theirs either.

You're quite possibly correct, but we don't know yet, so I'm not ready to draw this conclusion. Other factors may be in play, such as failure to reach competitive pricing or supply agreements.

I’m guessing that Lectron may be more favorable to the OEMs from a contractual point of view, rather than one or the other not having any sort of Tesla approval. Business is business, after all. Any of the three adapters should work just fine if assembled according to specifications (the second batch that Tesla shipped to Ford being excluded). ??

This is 15 mintues... it could be worse... could be one of the Out of Spec talk-a-thons with 30 seconds of content spread over 30+ minutes.

Tesla hasn't approved A2Z or Lectron. They've approved GM to sell the Lectron adapter, and Ford to giveaway (and sell in the future?) the Lectron adapter.

One thing occurs to me on sourcing, and that is that the adapter is Ford branded. It might be that getting that agreement in place, and the production ramped up, is the sticking point for A2Z.

While we haven't seen Tesla post to X that they approve of using the Lectron adapter, the fact that GM and Ford are sending/selling the Lectron adapter to their customers is essentially tacit approval from Tesla. And as Tom mentioned in the video, even if Tesla hasn't said in a statement that they approve the use of the Lectron adapter, it could be that Ford and GM talked to Tesla about the use of Lectron adapters. And during those talks Tesla could have said go ahead and use the Lectron bc at the end of the day, Ford and GM would incur the liability if something goes wrong with the adapter.
