My wife leased a new Kia EV6 on December 14. A few days later, she ordered the free NACS adapter. It arrived last week, so about 6 weeks. No mention of Tesla on the box or adapter, so I don't know who made it for them.

I leased a '24 Mach-E GT on August 14. I just got a notice from Fed-Ex a few minutes ago that my adapter (ordered on day one) will arrive tomorrow. So just under 6 months. Good job, Ford. Good thing you were the first to fall for this, paving the way for others.

Just a data point. Maybe a lot more adapters are finally being made, or Kia has their shit (and supply chain) together better than Ford.

Keep in mind that Tesla was making Ford's adapter and then Elon let go of the whole supercharger team and it's been wonky from there. Tesla was pretty strict on what adapters could be used on their network (not that an unofficial adapter couldn't work, but more so for liability sake if things go wrong) - basically it was only Tesla's adapter allowed at one point but then eventually they allowed OEM approved adapters. Ford got a hold of Lectron to make adapters and they've been sending those out like crazy now. I got a Lectron-made adapter a few weeks ago and it sounds like they've been doing a good job of fulfilling those orders now. I think that was the right move by Ford to go with Lectron and I really can't blame Ford for Tesla's restrictions and their mess on the production front. Since Kia/Hyundai's access was after this, they didn't have to feel the pain of waiting for Tesla to make their adapter.

Yeah, a 350amp adapter is going to have an issue down the road when people use it for other vehicles.

C'mon guys. Looking for a problem that may not exist? There is no issue using this for the intended vehicles. And Tom has no idea if this is an actual problem other than not being able to charge at the full 500A rate for an Equinox?

The delay was a manufacturing problem. The OEM supplier (Tesla) did/does not have the ability to manufacture a couple hundred thousand adapters quickly.

Lectron and A2Z on the other hand could.

The only people forced to wait a long time were people wanting a free adapter that was coming from said OEM.

Ford is no longer relying on said OEM and the floodgates have opened for them also.

Well, Tom considers not being able to charge at the full amperage using the Kia adapter a problem. It’s only a problem from the standpoint of 400v cars not being able to charge at their max rate in ideal conditions IF the owner of said 400v car were to use the Kia adapter.

We also don't have navigation support for routing to Tesla superchargers a full year after we got access to the network while other automakers managed to send out navigation updates in weeks to months after their vehicles got access to the network. Nothing happens fast at Ford.
