Lectron is at least on paper USA based and likely there are less hoops to jump through than with a Canadian based company.

Or they offered a cheaper bid. Who knows.

I would guess based off A2Z twitter comments that their extension cord is currently being tested out by Tesla though.

While we haven't seen Tesla post to X that they approve of using the Lectron adapter, the fact that GM and Ford are sending/selling the Lectron adapter to their customers is essentially tacit approval from Tesla. And as Tom mentioned in the video, even if Tesla hasn't said in a statement that they approve the use of the Lectron adapter, it could be that Ford and GM talked to Tesla about the use of Lectron adapters. And during those talks Tesla could have said go ahead and use the Lectron bc at the end of the day, Ford and GM would incur the liability if something goes wrong with the adapter.
There is no way that Ford and GM are selling the Lectron adapter without written approval from Tesla. Again, Tesla has NOT approved Lectron to sell the adapter outside of GM and Ford branding on it.

Tesla has most likely approved Ford's new adapter that Lectron manufacturers for them... Agree there.

However, it's not clear to me that the only difference between this new item and Lectron's self branded version is the Ford logo. There may be other differences.

https://www.ford.com/support/how-to...ng/how-do-i-get-a-fast-charging-adapter-nacs/

Why are there two different adapter designs from Ford?

To better serve Ford electric vehicle customers and increase supply, Ford has a new, approved Ford-branded Fast Charging Adapter (NACS) developed exclusively for Ford.
The Ford-branded Fast Charging Adapter (NACS) will be manufactured specifically for Ford by Lectron and is approved for use on designated Tesla Superchargers and other DC Fast Chargers with NACS connections.

Important:
  • To avoid the risk of serious injury and property damage, only use NACS adapters sold or provided by Ford or Tesla for use at Tesla Superchargers.
  • Tesla prohibits the use of any other adapter with Tesla charging stations.
  • Ford does not guarantee compatibility with aftermarket charging adapters.

Notice that a “Tesla” approved adaptor can be blanked approved to be used on ANY other DC network that uses NACS.

Almost like all 3 of the adaptor manufactures are fine…..

This ^^^

A2Z is Canadian.
Lectron is US but manufactured in China.

All I know is that I prefer A2Z - very well made, heavy and solid.
Hasn't failed in over 6 months of heavy use.

I hope the replacement NACS adapter that Ford sends me is the Lectron.

This is 15 mintues... it could be worse... could be one of the Out of Spec talk-a-thons with 30 seconds of content spread over 30+ minutes.
This is because YouTube’s infamous algorithm rewards longer videos. Thus so many videos are just filler.

I don't know.

There is a new item for the Ford-branded Lectron-made adapter on the Ford site, but that also shows as sold out.

I expect those in line will get either the Lectron or the Tesla in proportion to rate of production.

Replacement might be only like-for-like, so Tesla. However, I have no idea if that is what will happen.
Neither does Ford I’m afraid.

Both Lectron and A2Z state clearly on their websites that 3rd party adapters are not authorized. Lectron doesn't say they make one of the approved adapters provided by a car manufacturer, but we know they do. GM has shipped them, now Ford. They can't do that if Tesla doesn't say yes.

That doesn't mean that Tesla has any issue with A2Z's adapter, and they haven't authorized Lectron to sell theirs either.
Tesla changed their fine print to allow "adapters provided by the manufacturer". They did this when GM first announced the Lectron as an alternative. They do not state approved by Tesla.

From the Tesla web site:

YouTube needs a “summarize” feature so I don’t have to listen to these long videos, made longer with their stupid “sponsor” plugs, just to get the one or two relevant nuggets of information they contain.
Youtube had that with Gemini. But then they take it away. I just wrote a Python script that transcribes a video, generates screenshots, makes a PDF of the transcription with the screenshots, and then use an AI model to write a summary of each section. But, I don't know how to download Youtube videos so that I can run my script on it!
