You really feel that the Mach-E represents a minimal effort to building an EV?

I don't disagree with the specific gripes, of course. Any vehicle qualifies as having shortcomings. But there's so much about the Mach-E that to me comes across as an extraordinary effort to build a solid EV.

I don’t think it’s minimal effort.

But I do think that with some minimal effort (or just reading the forums) Ford is so close to greatness with this car.

They fixed the performance complaint.

All they had to do now is make it more comfortable and ride better.

That’s really not all that hard to pull off. Especially if the ā€œfixesā€ are just paid options.

We aren’t asking for the moon here. ?ā€ā™‚

Definitely smaller frunks to make room for the heat pump. It’s more or less Tesla-sized.

But, if they had a frunk cooling switch for the heat pump, this would be a great tailgate machine or frunkgate machine. Could keep the shrimp and beer cooled for hours.

I’m wondering why the heck there are exposed bolt heads in the 2025 frunk. Lame. ??

2021 without exposed bolt heads: ??

Because those bolts are under a trim panel on '21'-'23 models. '24 and newer eliminated that trim panel and now it is just part of a completely redesigned frunk tub which also has two drains instead of one.

There are more little changes like plastic cargo hold downs instead of metal, no B&O emblem on the rear door speaker grills, moulded plastic "Mustang" on kick plates instead of a nice aluminum panel, dual USB-C ports on the console rear instead of one USB-C and USB-A, the front driver and passenger doors no longer have door lock actuators (doors aren't pushed open), interior power liftgate switch (on liftgate trim panel) was removed and no noise insulation padding on the inside of any of the door panels. That is all I can think of at the moment.

Cheaping out in the scuff plates was really tacky. Also, the lack of covers to hide bolts just makes the car look cheap and not premium.

I wouldn’t have missed the B&O name plate on the rear door speakers because I wasn’t aware they were there to begin with. ;)

I notice things like that. ?

Three more changes I added to my previous list:
The front driver and passenger doors no longer have door lock actuators (doors aren't pushed open), interior power liftgate switch (on liftgate trim panel) was removed, and no noise insulation padding on the inside of any of the door panels.

The interior power lift gate switch was removed on the 2024 models (I think - might have been 2023, but I think it’s 2024). Someone check me on that. ?ā€ā™‚?

Yes it was removed on the 2024 models. All of the changes I mentioned are on '24 models and newer.

So you are telling me why I like my '22 GT so much right now....have so much of the good stuff before they started removing it. Just missing the new motors.

Just think how much money Ford could make if they released an optional performance upgrade to older models?
(1) Many people would pay for it
(2) Most people are out of warranty
(3) If they burn through the HVBJB, their dealerships get money for all the service calls to fix
(4) People stop complaining

That's a win-win-win-win.

WHAT?! The door presenters have been removed? That’s insane!

This has been the Ford MO for a number of years, you have to get in early and get the features or wait for a later model and have some minor upgrade at the cost of missing features. I have a soft spot for Fords but this is one of the reasons why the mach-e will be my last Ford and why I am done with the brand, every few years they will try and right the ship but it doesn't take long for them to revert back to bean counting type :(.

As for upgrade, if they had sense they would offer the newer rear motor and associated other part changes for the increased performance as a ford performance parts upgrade, it is an EV so they don't have to deal with any CARB BS, to not do so is just leaving money on the table but once again this Ford we are talking about :(

Ok I could give them a pass on the other stuff (sort of), but these are cheap ass changes. That’s a major negative for the car to me. I’d buy a model y if I wanted a cheap, loud, poorly built car.

Now, if you’ll excuse me., it’s first thing in the morning coffee time. I ought to make some. I’ve been told that I’m grumpy without it. I don’t believe those lies though. ;)
