I should add that I don’t worry about car (or other types of) fires because I have this really cool product that protects me against any potential losses. It’s called “insurance” ?
Im not exactly worried about any car fire…or the most common causes of house fire…dryer (go clean your lint out), or even from frying a turkey (stop dropping frozen turkeys into oil).

But, I can’t pretend that State Farm can easily replace everything in my house, up to and including my life.

The garage is best and as close to the panel as possible. You should decide on the charger first so that the plug is oriented correctly. If you plan on using a portable charger, like the one from Ford, the receptacle should be rotated 90 degrees, if possible.
If I parked my MME close to the panel, it would be in the basement at the other end of the house. I had to run 75 ft. of cables to the garage.

I am trying to determine where to position my charger ahead of my 2025 order arriving, and was planning to position it towards the front of my garage so I can keep the Mach E outside, as I am concerned about the possible flammability of the car ;-) But then I started to wonder, perhaps that is so... 2021? What is the consensus here? Do folks park their Mach E in the garage?

In the garage. ICE VEHICLES can burn as well. It happened to a friend and he lost his house

Unless you have a Chevy Bolt that wasn’t fixed per the recall or a Tesla plus a high chance of salt water flooding your garage, you’re fine leaving your EV indoors.

I park and charge in the garage. Professional install of a 14-50 socket, and a plug in GrizzlE charger.

The first study is totally false and the 2nd one has skewed data because it includes arson.

But fake stats aside, I park in the garage. Spontaneous combustion of Mach Es in a garage has never been reported as far as I know.

Not going to worry about something that’s never happened. ?‍♂
So EV Firesafe has bad data? Or just makes it up?

If that's so that stinks. A lot of folks are spouting their data including me. I looked it it, and it seemed legit, but you might have better knowledge of their falsehoods. Australian tax payers may be taken for a ride.

Arson may skew things. I went to the agencies website and I don't see any English data or info... wish I could find the original study so we could run some numbers and see if we could take arson out of the equation. That seems dumb to include it because its not a cars fault it gets torched by a jerk.

I park and charge mine in the garage. It’s the only vehicle in the garage. I have a smoke detector without heat sensor in there that is connected to the security system as an added precaution. The 50 Amp. EV charger is about 8 feet from the Mach E charge port. I keep the Ford charger in the car for remote needs but have the bracket mounted below the garage socket in case it is ever needed.

Just trying to push this to a 10 page thread in less than 24hrs.
Since 2012 I've parked and charged several EV's in my garage. Some times more thn 1 EV in the garage at a time in 2015. If I had a trace of doubt they woulda been outside. (When the Bolts were the new BBQ starters I would have parked it on the street if I had one.)

I would recommend that you install a heat detector in your garage. If the car catches fire, you will be alerted by the heat first rather than smoke. And, no, your car is significantly less likely to catch fire in your garage than a traditional ICE or diesel-powered car.
