I love the car, if you thought you were gonna get complaints about the car, it's not happening. I got this car November 21st, with the Ford Power Promise (enter the regrets). I have the charger, heard nothing from Ford or QMerit. As this is all new to me, I reached out to QMerit to find out how long I should expect to wait before hearing from them, and they could tell me little more than about 2 weeks, which have passed. So I reach out to Ford. What a runaround! They say I can talk to QMerit _OR_ my dealer! They have nothing else to offer me in the way of assistance, and no they can't escalate it.

Well, my brief love affair with Ford is over.

Anybody here have an idea how long I should wait and/or next steps?

(Yes, I did sign the Power Promise agreement ... like I said, I have the charger too)

Thanks!

Typical Ford. If theres one thing I learned in their EV experiment, its that they only seem to care about getting new customers and seemingly abandon their current customers.

My friend did the qmerit process with his chevy, similar, also the quote came back astronomical which he had to call around and then all of a sudden it was reduced in half. I would just keep pushing qmerit to get it done. Once you get your L2 your life is peachy, mine was installed in early 2016 and never had an issue since.

I'm almost there. I *know* I need a panel upgrade, and I know QMerit will make it more complicated (or whatever electrician they use? Hard to figure out where the inflation happens)

I went the other way. Put deposit on car that was a dealer order back in May. Bought charger and was reimbursed in full by the power company in August. Car was delivered on Halloween. All good.
Ford knocked $500 off for not doing the charger with them. One of my concerns would be that the contractor would find a way to come up with expensive change orders. I already had a plug for a welder. If I ever need to weld anything again I can unplug the charger.

You will be lucky to get much support from any contractor this time of year unless you pay high fees. I'd wait until January if it was me.

I took the charger instead of the rebate. The good news, is that Qmerit got it done in about 10 days. Their vendor texted me in a few days, then we set it up pretty promptly. The VERY bad, disappointing news is that it was just under $1800 to install my "free" install. I was told I needed a new panel. Hence, the charge. I could have got "my guy" install it, but since he is not licensed, I could not get the other rebates. The only saving grace, is that I can get a rebate from our electric company, and a rebate from the Feds.

If I was Ford I wouldn't touch being involved with installing an EVSE with a 10' pole.

That's simply a lose lose lose scenario. Especially for any first time EV buyer, who very likely doesn't yet grasp everything involved with adding an EVSE to their current service. (not implying this is true for the OP)

Or put another way, the word FREE is just going to draw ire by the end of the story.

The OP loves the product Ford designed, built, and delivered. That's what Ford does. Automotive manufacturer.

Yet the OP is already, within days of acquisition, done with Ford.

Ford's marketing department probably thinks they cooked up a wonderful sales incentive. But someone at Ford should've been smart enough to nix the whole idea, and pointed out just how south this is likely to go with probably 2 out of 3 customers.

If your dealer enrolled you in the promotion - and it sounds like they did if they handed you the charger - you should have received an email from Qmerit within a few days. Unless your dealer typoed your email address in the system or something, this is way too long.

This is your HOME charger, right?

It wasn't the best move to have Ford try to make modifications to your house (through a contractor). Contractors are squirrly enough without an intermediary.

In my area, two weeks is normal for anything involving contractors. You may have gotten the run around because, what, you asked for faster? And they can't.

Once you get your home charger you will love life though. It is a one time pain.

Think of it like waiting for Santa Claws

God. I am sorry you’re getting the run-around. My dealer talked me out of the EVSE. It wasn’t hard since I already have an old dumb one. ?‍♂?

guess it's too late to get a refund for the charger install? You'd probably be better off getting a local ev friendly electrician to do the install.
