I love the car, if you thought you were gonna get complaints about the car, it's not happening. I got this car November 21st, with the Ford Power Promise (enter the regrets). I have the charger, heard nothing from Ford or QMerit. As this is all new to me, I reached out to QMerit to find out how long I should expect to wait before hearing from them, and they could tell me little more than about 2 weeks, which have passed. So I reach out to Ford. What a runaround! They say I can talk to QMerit _OR_ my dealer! They have nothing else to offer me in the way of assistance, and no they can't escalate it.

Well, my brief love affair with Ford is over.

Anybody here have an idea how long I should wait and/or next steps?

(Yes, I did sign the Power Promise agreement ... like I said, I have the charger too)

Thanks!
Have you spoken to your dealer?

I'm almost there. I *know* I need a panel upgrade, and I know QMerit will make it more complicated (or whatever electrician they use? Hard to figure out where the inflation happens)
Just FYI most people don't *need* a panel upgrade. Worst case scenario (without a panel upgrade) is sharing a circuit such as a dryer circuit. Maybe you *want* a panel upgrade, or even *really want* a panel upgrade.

Qmerit is owned by Schneider electric.
While Schneider equipment is quality, it is not user friendly. It requires a very Schneider knowledgeable installer, of which there are few and far between.
Qmerit charges at least twice as much and often four times as much for all work. And "Qmerit" sub contractors are even more scarce.
Schneider, primarily, is an industrial supplier working on high ticket items with little interest in residential installs (no customer service there).
Furthermore, Schneider is going through legal problems in Europe and they need to raise capital for fees and fines.
Should Schneider survive the fray, their equipment may be viable, but unlikely affordable initially.
And yes, GM was sucked in by Qmerit (no skin off GMs hide) as was Ford by SunRun.

Note: I own Schneider equipment (inverters [battery backup] and PDP {AC coupled bimodal solar system}). Initial installers were clueless, but I was able to find a solar certified and knowledgeable expert who made the system work.

The problem with the Ford Power Promise is that it requires extra steps to be taken by the dealer selling the vehicle, which they often do not do fully or correctly. They have to claim the promotion, fill out a couple of extra forms to enroll the customer, and then promptly report the sale. From what I've seen, dealers either are under the false belief that Ford will automatically send the charger to the customer, they don't want to do all the extra steps and skip some, or they're just indifferent or ignorant about it. All they have to do is follow the instructions provided to them, but reading is hard.

Unfortunately, the dealer dysfunction harms the customer when they are waiting for a charger or installation that will never come. The system should be structured so that the $1000 rebate cannot be applied to the sale unless everything else is done correctly.

I don't have the numbers, but it seems like only a small number of people (<50%) are actually getting the free charger with the sale of an EV as intended. And numerous problems have been reported trying to get Qmerit to schedule the install for those that want it (mostly related to improper enrollment).

If you didn't get your free charger or Qmerit install (and you asked for it), then you should be dinging your dealer on the survey for not doing things properly. It's a dealer problem.

I bought a car two weeks ago and felt all dealers I was talking to (total of 9) were pushing me to take the money. I, of course, needed no pushing because I live in a high rise and installing a personal charger is not an option. But the dealers didn’t know that.

My advice is to simplify your life to the absolute max and always take the money.

The dealers push for the buyers to take the money, bc as Mach-Lee said in his post, they lack the will to read and follow the instructions Ford has provided.

OP, you need to bang on your dealer bc they may have not completed all of the necessary forms. You should also hit them hard on the survey.

is that because the dealers don't get any incentives to push the program?

Thanks for that advice. It is my opinion that the Ford Power Promise should be backed by the brand, not various dealers. I'm not saying I won't turn the screws on the dealer, but I don't accept that it has to be my job to tell them how to do theirs.

The dealer is a representative of the brand. If the dealer doesn't do it's job, then the brand gets a black-eye. You shouldn't have to tell them how to do their jobs. But as you know, we know people who we have to tell to do something that they should do without you or me telling them to do it (children who don't clean their rooms). Some dealers are better than others. But in your case, the salesperson at your dealer is ultimately responsible for completing the necessary paperwork. Instead, they were indifferent to doing the necessary steps get your home charging up and running.

No. Dealers are indifferent. But their interest is to present you with a smaller payment, which is a consequence of you taking the $1,000, not the charger installation.

Btw, we are typically very harsh on dealers, and often for good reason. But think about all the acrobatics they had to deal with since 2020 and I believe that some empathy is warranted. They are ill equipped to deal with all the changes that happened since the introduction of the Mach-E.

I took the charger instead of the rebate. The good news, is that Qmerit got it done in about 10 days. Their vendor texted me in a few days, then we set it up pretty promptly. The VERY bad, disappointing news is that it was just under $1800 to install my "free" install. I was told I needed a new panel. Hence, the charge. I could have got "my guy" install it, but since he is not licensed, I could not get the other rebates. The only saving grace, is that I can get a rebate from our electric company, and a rebate from the Feds.
I would take that, my local electrician quoted me 7k for panel upgrade and 2 months for PGE
