I bought the car in Florida and recently moved to the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan. This is the car's first real experience of winter. And I told myself, if this car survives the winter then I will keep it. Up until today it's handled heavy snow just fine, however the center screen not booting properly has had me annoyed. But today, when temps hit 5F out, it ran into multiple issues and I've lost confidence in the car's ability to keep me safe.
This morning the car was just fine after pre-conditioning it (it was 7F outside). Well, other than the center screen not booting up again. Drove to work just fine in the heavy snow. Parked it in the parking lot and worked my day.
10 minutes before clocking out I remote started the car to get it warmed up. Walked out after 5pm, cleaned off the snow, got in and multiple faults flashed on the screen including disabling AWD, 1PD, drive modes, pre-collision assist, all driver aides and said "service soon." I turned it off, got out, locked it, got back in, started it up and same thing, faults everywhere. I can manage without most of those things, but losing AWD in weather conditions where I needed it the most was what did it for me. I live in a rural area in the country, driving thru heavy snow is normal. I rely on AWD to get me thru the snow and up and down hills. Please note that I have decades of experience driving in the snow with all varieties of vehicle drives (FWD, RWD, AWD, and 4x4). My street just happened to be plowed for my drive home. It won't be tomorrow morning and we're expecting several inches of snow overnight.
I really like this car, I've had it for 3 years. It's my first EV and it's been a fun learning experience. But now it's shown that it can't handle the winter that this new location can produce. Oddly, I happen to already have an appointment scheduled for tomorrow at the dealership for the constant center screen issue. If I can even get there, depending on how that goes, I might be looking for something else.
