While we wait for OK To Buy, I Just kind of hope that somebody realizes that the clock is ticking on weeks worth of built cars that may get tariffs slapped on them within a few weeks. Whatever the engineers and lawyers are talking about could be settled while the cars are in Kansas City maybe? Why wait till the last minute and make several thousand cars unsellable?

The OKTB is about making sure there are no issues before they leave the factory. If they find a problem, they can fix it on all of the cars at the factory. Once they leave the factory, fixing any issues will need to be done by the dealers, which is more involved and could require the owners to be without their car for some time.

Some of the early MMEs had to get an issue fixed in Kansas City at a vacant race track which had room to do that. The most efficient way to resolve the issues would be at the factory before they leave there.

It is also unknown when any tariffs might be applied. I think the dealer pays Ford before they actually sell them to a customer don't they? Would the dealer have to pay the tariff at that point? Would that happen when the cars leave the factory? ?‍♂

Update - here is what my dealer says about OKTB:
OKTB is only achieved after the assembly line can run without stopping for issues for an established amount of time.

And my point is that Ford is looking at paying a tariff of about $12k to $15k per car at the border when these cars enter the US, assuming current trends continue, or they can get them across the border now.

Let's suppose they are producing 10000 cars a week in total in Mexico across all models, that's a lot of money per week.

While there will be long term pain to deal with they coils try to cut the losses.

There is logic in holding them at the factory for possible QC issues, but not to the tune of $12k per car.

This seems to be a case of "well, this is just how we have always done it..."

If I had to guess I’d say it’s more likely that they aren’t going to change the whole process to accommodate the tariffs that are different every day based on the whims of you know who. If you try to react to what he says he’s gonna do you’ll just be running around in circles.

Hey all, I've ordered a 2025 GTPE, and in my anticipation for it's assembly/arrival, I thought I'd see if anyone is interested in my maintaining a table of the orders and their status. I thought it might be fun to see when and where orders are being fulfilled. I'm in Alaska, so it'll help me to see the timeline of deliveries in the states and give me an idea of how long I can expect to wait. If you're interested, DM me the details of your order:
  • Model
  • Delivery State
  • Order Date
  • Scheduled Assembly Date
  • Ship Date
  • Date you took delivery
I'll add it to this post as I get updates! Here's mine to start:

I'm a very surprised the cars that went into production in January are not yet built.

Sounds like e_riggy’s is built, it just hasn’t been updated on the tracker. Hopefully we’ll get some confirmed builds soon, and I can’t wait for the first delivery photo ?

@sppeed1 Did your car get built yet? I'm hoping they are still on schedule. They already pushed a lot of builds out a week.

My MME was produced on Jan 8th, but is just sitting at the factory. Hopefully it starts moving soon.

Yours is the earliest build that I have seen so far. Let's us know when it ships.

When you place an order with your Ford Dealer, aren't you price protected and locked in to the current pricing as of the order date?

I placed my order on 1/30 for a Premium AWD EX and still have not received a build date. When I asked my dealer yesterday I was told there is a shortage on extended range batteries

You are, however Fords price protection excludes tariffs.

Also, I'm not sure if financing terms are included in that price protection. If not, the $7500 lease credit is contingent on the federal tax credit which is at risk in the budget that needs to be passed by 3/14 to avoid a government shutdown. If anyone is able to confirm if financing terms are protected that would be great.

There is a lot of uncertainty right now so the sooner you can take delivery the better.
